Pagalpanti Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Veeru was dismissed by spinners quite frequently after 2010' date= but before that when he wasn't that attacking batsman he didn't thrash spinners like these batsman are trying to do. I thought he was always selective in attacking the spinners. I mean he used play with the spin and according to field whenever he decided to go after them and he was good at it. Well he was pretty much on decline after 2010-11. The best thing about Veeru was he didn't try to hit em, it was his natural game to take on the bowlers, especially spinners. He'd never let them settle. He'd slog sweep em, hit em in the air. He had the ability to do so because of his tremendous hand-eye co-ordination but others who were technically more equipped waited for bad balls to put em away. Something which only Pujara has shown so far in the current gen of Indian batsman. The likes of Kohli, Rahane, Rohit feel the need to take on spinners unnecessarily. The best I saw Kohli play spin was in SA tour, although pitches were graveyard for spinners but he didn't try force himself on Tahir.
