Interestingly Sri Lanka now have the most batsman with more than 10000 ODI runs (Sangakarra, Jayawardene, Jayasuria and now Dilshan). India have 3 (Ganguly, Sachin and Dravid) and only one from Pakistan, Australia, West Indies and South Africa (Inzimam, Ponting, Lara and Kallis respectively).

Well....very and yuvi didn't even have 8500 runs. If we're going to count them in the could have been list, then there are at least 10 players who scored more career runs than them but didn't hit the 10k mark.

Azhar could have reached though. HE was remarkable in ODIs in that era and finished with 9200+ runs.

Based on averages only. :facepalm: According to that Amla was the best opener in ODIs which is obviously not true. A lot of the others on that list are better openers than Amla and Dilshan.

Rohot Sharma had 79 hundreds in 23 ODI's

Sachin is an obviously better opener, Amla may be, but we have to wait till he finishes. I feel Dilshan as an opener is better than Jaya, especially on harder bouncier wickets, because of his ability with cross bat shots. Unlike Greenidge or Haynes, Dilshan is a superb player of spin, better than many in that list, except Sachin and Saurav. Third best opener, hmm, I will not drop that claim easily.
