However, they do have emotions and suffer .... killing a pet (who is like a family member under your protection) should be seen akin to killing an infant in your family

Lot of animals are killed every day for food, why punish this particular incident :dontknow: Dogs are anyways disgusting, should be killed, all of them.

Animals are not equal to humans.They don't have same rights as human beings. If any animal slightly harass humans then we kill it. This is the way our civilization is built and running.I am sure if rats enter your house you will kill them and will you do same to any human and kill him instead of calling police?

Certain animals share a mutual emotional bond with human and that has been respected for thousands of years. Isn't this a part of our civilization too? Another thing that's part of our civilization is we don't consider all animals equal. A fish's life isn't worth a dolphin's. A rat's life isn't worth a dog's. How those animals bond with us decides how much value we put to their lives..which again is a human instinct. Your friends are dearer to you than a stranger..why? It's all about the mutual emotional bond you share. Dogs for centuries have occupied that friendly niche with us..and that's the reason killing them makes millions protest.
