My fingers aren't just letting me type it... :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: We are no longer a good team who can play spin well All our legends are gone from Sehwag,Sachin,Laxman to Dravid, Ganguly,MSD Not even one reliable person excluding Kohli. I really hope our FTB Rohit and Dhawan step up. Can we please have all matches in EDEN LMAO :hysterical::hysterical:
CricketBuffOne Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 Prepare better pitches, raise the standard of teen cricket (improve infra, bring in better coaches goes without saying), have a merit based selection system, encourage young lads to pick up fast bowling (a team cannot rule the cricket world without great fast bowlers), make the guys understand that cricket doesn't just mean batting/ bowling/ fielding, and that they are expected to do well in all areas, of course they can excel at one, but they have to be more than decent with the other two. Above all work on the mental ability of the players. Make them understand that each one of them can make a difference, so for example if the top 7/8 don't make enough runs, the tail need not surrender meekly, same goes for bowling and fielding. To achieve this hire people who are mentally strong, who always believed in their ability to win the game without ever being bogged down by the aura of the opponent, always took pride in playing for their country & always fought it out in the middle. Bring that someone to tell these guys what no one currently or in the past told them.

If it was available we would have won the first game by an innings.
tweaker Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 For me ,if our team has be succesful we should have an intelligent bunch of selectors.Our selection was always baffling.On 96 tour to England we had 3 seamers ( Srinath,Prasad,Mhambrey) & 4 spinners( Kumble,Raju,Joshi,Hirwani).Most of the selections are illlogical,regional.Some players are selected after their prime ( Kuruvilla,Pankaj Singh).Some are not selected only( Zaidi,Mujumdar).Now the selection of Harbhajan,Binny is also in the illogical direction

Money never was, and never will be an issue for BCCI. Till the time the board, players and fans are happy to excel at home and ok with losing abroad, things aren't going to change.

But as for players, with few exceptions, they seem to be content with their own mediocrity.

I think in order to bring change, even the fans need to raise their standards. Instead of going ga ga over team's mediocre wins/ players doing well on flat tracks/ dust bowls, and worshiping them like Gods, let them know that fans expect them to perform well in all conditions. The money, the fame and the adulation they get is because of the fans, so players/board have a moral responsibility towards these innocent souls. They can't let them down consistently without even showing any remorse. There has to be some sort of accountability. Not saying they need to win every contest, but they need to raise their game to a level where 9/10 times before a game fans should be confident about their team's victory. This was precisely how everyone felt when a Steve Waugh or a Ponting's team used to take field, irrespective of the playing conditions or the match location (home/abroad).
