Guest dada_rocks Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Please read it patiently.. U can't miss it B. P. SINGHAL, IPS. (Retd.), Ex-MP Rajya Sabha. They-THE SECULARISTS - are at it once again. "It was a well planned 'GENOCIDE'", "it was 'POGROM'", "it was state sponsored 'TERRORISM'", is what they had said in screaming headlines day after day after day in 2002, in the Delhi based "SECULAR" English dailies and the "SECULAR" electronic media. So complete was the Goebblesian propaganda and so effective was the concealment of truth, that even the Supreme Court lost its judicial balance and without verifying what steps the Government of Gujarat had taken, it went on to write on page 72 of its judgement in the Best Bakery Case that, "The modern day NEROS were looking elsewhere when Best Bakery and innocent children and helpless women were burning ...........". It was media power at its worst that caused this unwarranted outburst from the Hon'ble Supreme Court. All the Gujarat language dailies were giving truthful accounts which were at complete variance with the Delhi based Media. "The Hindu", the leading-most South India daily reported on 1st March 2002 : "The Chief Minister Modi frantically asked for the Army units to be called in." On 2nd March 2002 'The Hindu' reported : "Unlike February 28 when one community was entirely at the receiving end, the minority backlash on 1 st March has further worsened the situation .......... and the Army staged a flag march in Ahemedabad on 1 st March 2002 at 9.00 A.M." It was therefore truly shocking that on 25.8.2007, "Aaj Tak" harped on the same old refrain that "Modi did not call the army until three days had passed". Even more outrageous was their insistance on this point. When "Aaj Tak" contacted me on phone to get my response, I told the anchor that the GODHRA carnage took place on February 27 th 2002, that the Hindu backlash commenced on February 28th and the Army was doing flag march on the forenoon of March 1st ............ He cut me short by saying that "this is exactly what we had said, no action was taken by Modi on 29 th, 30th and 31st thus giving three clear days to the murderers ........" ( mofo psecs had no clue 2002 is neither lip-year nor there are 31 days in february month) I had to cut him short by reminding him that the date 28 th was 28th of February 2002 and there was no 29 th, 30th or 31st in that month. The phono was of course disconnected. However, it has to be said to the credit of "Aaj Tak" and "Headlines Today" that they called me for a full length studio debate from 9.15 P.M. 11.45 P.M. next day. But the details of that debate shall have to wait. For the present, however, it is imperative that certain facts are stated to prevent perpetuation of the LIES propagated in 2002. Fact 1: That SHOOT AT SIGHT ORDERS had been given by the Government on 28th itself. Being an Ex-DGP and also a Member of Parliament at that time, I was personally in touch with the office of DGP Gujarat and the Commissioner of Police Ahemedabad. I was keen to tell them, (a) To call in the Army atonce and ( To issue "SHOOT AT SIGHT" orders to all officers of the rank of Sub-Inspectors and above. It was very comforting to learn that the Government of Gujarat had already taken both those steps by 2.30 P.M. on 28 th February itself. In fact the State Government had also requested for Armed Police reinforcements from neighbouring states, besides calling for the Army. Fact 2: On the 28th February itself 10 Hindus had been shot dead and 16 Hindus had been wounded by POLICE BULLETS. Fact 3: On the next day i.e., 1st March an additional 24 Hindus were shot dead and 40 Hindus wounded by POLICE BULLETS. Fact 4: In the entire period of riots total Hindu casualties were 80 shot dead, and 207 wounded by POLICE BULLETS alone. (But no Delhi-based media showed any interest in giving coverage to these casualties.) Fact 5: The Muslim counter attack which commenced from 1st March 2002 was no less ferocious. In the first three days alone, out of a total of 611 deaths, 101 were caused by POLICE FIRING. Of these, 61 were Hindus and 40 were Muslims. Fact 6: As on 5th of March, as many as 40,000 Hindus had had to be given shelter in Relief Camps. (There was plenty of media coverage given to the plight of Muslims in relief camps but no Delhi-based media covered any Hindu relief camps.) Fact 7: In answer to the Parliament questions, the UPA Home Minister gave the figures of casualties during Gujarat riots. There were Muslims killed 790, Hindus killed 254, wounded 2500 in all missing 223. Thus this proves the lies that what happened in Gujarat was a one-sided affair for every three Muslims who died in Gujarat, one Hindu was also killed. Such heavy casualties in riot control are UNPRECEDENTED in the entire history of Indian Police. The figures of casualties caused by Police firing in the first three days alone indicate the FEROCITY of Police action. ( by contrast not a single hindus were killed in police firing in 1984 yes you heard me right not even a single hindu was killed )(And the "SECULAR" PARTIES and their MEDIA cohorts even to this day proclaim unabashedly that Modi ordered the Police "to look the other way" to give a free hand to murderers for three days). If they have any respect for TRUTH, they can cross-check the casualties with the records of the concerned hospitals. The Police is duty bound to carry the dead or the wounded in Police firings to the concerned Government hospitals. With the Muslim counter attack commencing from 1st March onwards till the riots were quelled altogether, what took place in Gujarat was a full-fledged Hindu-Muslim Riot. It was no GENOCIDE, or POGROM, or STATE TERRORISM against the Muslims of Gujarat. "No modern day 'NERO' was looking elsewhere". The modern day Chief Minister was dealing with the situation as best as was possible with the highly limited forces at his command. Because of the spontaneous conflagration at scores and scores of locations, it is entirely possible that the Police or Fire brigade may have failed to reach a scene for hours, OR, having been spread so thin, the posse of Police that did reach the scene was deterred from intervening by the sheer ferocity of violence at that point in time. But to say that Police was restrained as a measure of Government POLICY is completely belied by the sheer immensity of casualties caused by Police firings. The insane FEROCITY and BRUTALITY with which Ram Bhaktas including "innocent children and helpless women" were roasted alive at Godhra set the benchmark for the equally insane ferocity of the Hindu backlash and the ferocity of the Hindu backlash was followed by an equally insanely ferocious counter attack by the Muslims. The Delhi-based media made out as though the whole of Gujarat was in flames. It concealed the fact that out of 18,600 villages, 240 Municipal towns and 25 Districts, the number of locations that were affected by riots was just 60. Not a single man-day was lost in the 200 odd Industrial townships by any Industry in Gujarat because of the riots. The examinations in Schools, Colleges and Universities were conducted as per schedule during the period of riots. Irrefutable confirmation that it was a Communal RIOT and not a GENOCIDE or POGROM, came from the verdicts of Courts in POST-GODHRA riots cases: (i) Deccan Herald reported on May 2004: Conviction of 3 confessing Muslims for 7 years for attempted murder. (ii) Indian Express dated 19.03.2006 reported: 7 Muslims convicted for life for the murder of Mukesh Panchaal. (iii) Indian Express dated 29.03.2006 reported: 9 Muslims convicted for attempted murder and Arms Act with sentences ranging from 10 years to 18 months. (iv) Indian Express dated 19.05.2006 reported: 4 Muslims nailed by DNA tests and convicted for LIFE. While the "SECULAR" PARTIES and the "SECULAR" Delhi-based Media singled out the Hindu backlash for mega-publicity, they BLANKED OUT the Godhra carnage, as well as the Muslim counter attack for reasons best known to them. Nevertheless, not only the MINORITY community of Gujarat, but the entire population of Gujarat had been well aware of "GUJARAT KA SACH", ALL ALONG. As a result, all the Goebblesian propaganda had to bite the dust when the BJP was not only returned to serve Gujarat for a second term, by an overwhelming majority in the legislature, in the Post-Godhra-Post-Gujarat elections, but also continued to win the Corporation, the Municipal and the Gram Sabha elections with overwhelming margins. In a DEMOCRACY, THE PEOPLE KNOW WHO IS WHAT. AND THE PEOPLE ARE THE FINAL ARBITERS.

sandtest Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Good find DR....that shatters a lot of myths thrown by p-sec media. But problem is, damage is already done.....Media has successfully psy-opsed many Indians (other than Gujaratis) against NAMO. I guess it was an organized plan to prevent Namo rising as future Prime Minister of India and limit him till Gujarat. A lot needs to be done than some internet articles to re-store Namo's damaged image. To start with BJP should file a case in Supreme Court against media.
theguyinallblue Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 media is very powerful in india....media created a dull film like OSO..into a biggest hit of indian cinema as claimed by SRK.. eveyone needs media...even terrorists understand the importance of Media... BJP can not afford to overtly go against all media....IMO they too should have a major mouth piece in television media at least..
Guest dada_rocks Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 I was watching ibnlive they seemed so measured concerned about chrages proof of charges in 84 riot case.. One of the guest suggested that Pogrom's defintion is killing of some particualr community at the behest of govt. machinery. Going by that definition anti-sikh killing fits the bill of pogrom not the post-godhara. Since in former not even single hindu was killed in police firing or otherwise whereas in post-godhara episode ratio of muslim death and hindu death is 3:1. Majority of hindus kwere killed in police firing. All the major media reported how the very day riot broke out Modi asked for army presence. Psecs tried to pass it off as if Modi waited three days but fact is stacked against them lest february suddenly consists of 31 days. It's well organized character assassination campaign.
Guest dada_rocks Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 :hysterical: It will take time coming to terms with the truth...... I always knew poor guy totally new in office did the best he cud, Ab issue hi itana bhadkaw tha ki contorl karte karte bahut jaan chali gai..
Guest dada_rocks Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 hota hai hota hai.. intellectual integrity is not that easy thing to possess..
Guest dada_rocks Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Surely, it is remarkable that despite an acrimonious campaign, a person like Modi, with so many baiters within his own party, Opposition and the media, did not attract any serious charge of being personally corrupt. In fact, this, I understand is at the root of local dissidence within the BJP. [ exactly my sentiments] Similarly, when we passed through rural Gujarat and sought notes to the Gujarat development story, anecdotal references collected by our team pointed out to some spectacular thrust by the administration on rural infrastructure, water, micro-irrigation, education and power. "Modi's claim of providing 24 hour power to the countryside is a huge sham," a local leader from the Congress would say and add sheepishly "We get power only for 22 hours." http://ia.rediff.com/news/2007/dec/24guest.htm :haha:
Guest dada_rocks Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Ye raha real article with seven points kee verbal diarrhoeas aside and try refuting any of those facts..........

bulbul Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 nein nein nein. Let me go to tehelka and dig something and then blame you for partisan sources Agree , Tehelka & CBI are the only true sources when it somes to Modi news.
someone Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 During a hearing of a Gujarat riots case, the Supreme Court chastised the Gujarat government for being modern day Neros. However, this adjective has stuck to Modi’s name. Compared to many other epithets used against Modi, this is actually the least vicious. There is no denying that due to incompetence or complicity or both - the police failed in many instances to control the violence that shook Gujarat for three days starting February 28, 2002. There is also no denying that some of the administrators proved incompetent in handling the situation and a good number of politicians were involved in instigating mob violence. Some even led murderous mobs. But there are many instances of the police and army having saved Muslims whose homes or settlements were surrounded by murderous mobs. But anti Modi brigades almost never mention those instances just as they never mention the number of Hindus killed in police firing while saving Muslims or the instances of retaliatory violence by Muslims. One of the biggest disservices done by the self appointed guardians of Muslim community is that they exaggerated, overstated and distorted the events of 2002 beyond recognition solely with a view to serving partisan interests of the Congress party. Their aim has never been to ensure punishment of those guilty of murders and mayhem during the 2002 riots. Their single minded focus has been on targeting Narendra Modi. In the process, they have actually weakened their case by introducing endless lies to their narrative to project Modi as the man who personally ordered and directed mob violence against Muslims. This campaign has been sustained through propping up dubious witnesses whose testimonies have been rejected by the Supreme Court appointed Special Investigative Team (SIT) as being false and motivated. And yet it is sustained with the help of pliable media houses and intellectuals acting as the foot soldiers of the Congress Party. All of the text below (in the quote) clearly indicated that despite being new to administration (he had taken charge as CM only 3½ months ago of a state whose machinery of governance was communally polarized due to frequent riots most of which occurred under Congress regimes), Modi took all necessary steps to quell the riots even though his administration and even his political colleagues either failed him,or played mischief at many places. This included getting army units airlifted and deployed on the ground within 20 hours of the outbreak of violence. A chief minister who has orchestrated riots is not likely to have the army brought in with such speed. Similarly, a chief minister who wants a particular community to be massacred is not likely to make desperate pleas for additional police force from neighbouring states. When Modi's direct action saved 15,000 lives, and the incompetence/lack of will of police and administrators led to the death of 1,300, can you still call him Nero? Report submitted by the Special Investigative Team (SIT) appointed and closely monitored by the Supreme Court a to investigate charges against Modi and his government provides instances of police and army saving Muslims from riotous mobs. Some even braved hostile mobs but did not allow rescued Muslims to be harmed. Despite lapses and partisan conduct of the police in many places the police and army saved numerous lives of those who were held hostage by violent mobs. News reports of the time provided several instances of police officers risking their lives to save trapped Muslims. Here are few of many instances: 5000 people were saved from Noorani mosque by Ahmedabad Police. 240 persons were saved at Sardarpura in Mehsana district and shifted to safe places; 450 lives were saved in Pore and Nardipur villages and shifted to safer places. 200 persons were saved in Sanjoli village; 1500 persons were rescued from Fatehpura village in Vadodra district; 3000 people were saved and shifted from Kawant village. Even from Ehsan Jafri’s Gulberg Society, 150 people, including his wife Zakia Jafri, were saved and taken to secure places. In her first FIR, Zakia Jafri admits to having been rescued by the Police. The charges she levelled against Modi and 63 others came 4 years later that too based on secondary sources like the statements of IPS officer Sreekumar who has been indicted by the SIT as a dubious person, a liar who fudged records and therefore an unreliable witness Madhu Kishwar

someone Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Godhra: Sifting Fact from Fiction by Nicole Elfi Perhaps, the best article I have seen on 2002 issue. Must read.
someone Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 Some key points from initial pages What transpired then, in the Indian press? Let’s imagine a coach of French pilgrims coming back from Lourdes, burned alive. Strangely, instead of clearly, straightforwardly condemning the act, the Indian English-language press tried to justify it: “Pilgrims provoked by chanting pro-Hindu slogans” (they were not slogans but bhajans, or devotional songs, ending with “Jai Sri Ram” (Victory to Sri Rama). “It’s because they were returning from Ayodhya, where they asked for the reconstruction of a temple at the traditional birth place of Rama; this offends the feelings of the Muslims.” In sum, the victims, roasted alive, were guilty. We read all over about a “genocide of Muslims.” Do we remember a single report on the Hindus who heroically helped save Muslims in their neighbourhood? Was even one family of Hindu victims interviewed following the criminal burning of the Sabarmati Express? One fourth of the dead in the ensuing riots were Hindus. How to classify those 250 victims? Who evoked the dead on the Hindu side? According to reports, Congress Party councillor Taufeeq Khan Pathan and his son Zulfi, notorious gangsters, were allegedly seen leading Muslim rioters. Another such character, Congress member of the Godhra Nagarpalika [municipality], Haji Balal, was said to have had the fire-fighting vehicle sabotaged beforehand.[2] Which newspaper article stated that the most violent events took place following provocations by leaders of this sort? The Union Home Ministry's Annual Report of 2002-03 stated that 40,000 Hindus were in riot relief camps. What made those 40,000 Hindus rush to relief camps? To seek protection from whom? Why was it necessary if they were the main aggressors? More than the barbaric event itself, it is the insensitivity of the Indian “elite” and of the media that infuriated the Gujaratis. That's already very powerful and shocking. But there is much more shocking facts in the latter pages. Must read article really.
zumi Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 More from the article, facts that are hardly recalled: The planned massacre of 58 Hindu pilgrims, incl 28 women and 10 children. At 7:43 A.M. on February 27, 2002, the Sabarmati Express rolled into the Godhra station, fortunately with a four-hour delay, in broad daylight. This train transported more than 2,000 people, mainly karsewaks on their way back to Ahmedabad after participating in the Poorna Ahuti Yagya at Ayodhya, a ritual at the traditional birthplace of Rama. As it pulled out of the station, the train was pelted with stones and bricks, and passengers from several bogeys were forced to bring down their windows to protect themselves. Someone pulled the emergency chain: the train came to a halt about 100 metres away from the platform, surrounded by a large crowd of Muslims. The railway police managed to disperse the crowd, and the train resumed its journey. Within minutes, the emergency chain was simultaneously pulled again, from several coaches. It halted at about 700 metres from the station. A crowd of over 1,000 surrounded the train, pelting it with bricks, stones, then burning missiles and acid bulbs, especially on the S-5, S-6 and S-7 coaches. The vacuum pipe between coaches S-6 and S-7 was cut, thereby preventing any further movement of the train. The doors were locked from outside. A fire started in coach S-7, which the passengers were able to extinguish. But the attack intensified and coach S-6 caught fire and minutes later, was in flames. Passengers who managed to get out of the burning compartment were attacked with sharp weapons, and stoned. They received serious injuries, some were killed. Others got out through the windows and took shelter below the coach. Fifty-eight pilgrims were burned alive, including twenty-seven women and ten children. The whole attack lasted 20-25 minutes.
Detonator Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 @someone Really an interesting read, and quiet changed my perspective. Thanks for sharing. :icflove:
rageaddict Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Its so rare to come across articles depicting the act that triggered the fierce backlash. How often do we see a Hindu family being interviewed or shown on TV whose near and dear ones had been burnt alive in the Train ? While OTOH not a week goes by without the media showing the plight of Muslims ( always the oppressed ) who suffered at the hands of Hitler Modi. The riots started because innocent people were burnt. Not because Hindus (the lazy f***s they are) got bored and went out to kill some muslims. We never hear this side of story, and the media has always pretended from the start that the Gujrat riots were caused by Hindus .
