Overall he somehow has remained at borderline,most of his career. Neither a cemented position nor bad enough to be ignored. I like that guy for his work ethics. I have heard he never misses any training session or any chance to play a match at any level.

Work ethic may be admirable, but what matters most is whether he is capable of becoming a regular wicket taker at this level.

Remember the 8 innings phase without getting over 10 runs in ODI's? If he works hard on knowing when to leave, defense against spinners it is possible he can come good in tests. He has the shots and runs in Ranji. After 13 tests check record of Kallis and Waugh. Im not saying keep him in XI, but keep him in plans/squad. He is very talented.

Remember after over 80 ODI's he averaged 28. I know he looks very bad outside off and vs spin. But he looked very bad in the 8 innings where he scored less than 10 before purple patch too. Maybe he may get 1 big score and be a completely different player. I hope he is not completely written off. With some hard work he still has potential to become good bat. And you can't blame him for his domestic performances either. Also I believe many people wanted VVS Laxman to be dropped early on his career. He was very frustrating. But Indian management showed :finger: to all that noise and look how dependable he became later. I think he used to get out alot in 20's, 30's early on. But like today with Rohit, many close to him saw something in him. They were not foolish people.

End of day 2 pitch was starting to flatten out and favor spinners more. As it continues to dry spinners will be in business. Saw turn for Kaushal and Herath at the end. Seamers looking alot less threatning last hour.

True but it will rain all night and a bit in the morning as well so it'll be like a fresh wkt with bit of grass cover and both seamers will enjoy the first session.if sun comes out,the grass will settle down and ashwin will come into play
