maniac Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 I still see posts of how he sucks and how he is piss poor etc and it pains me. I get the criticism and I will be the first one to raise my hand and admit when there is an odd failure or a bad performance like the 2nd test in South Africa but before going all postal here please read the entire post In the 2nd test,Ashwin and Mishra got a well deserved credit for their performance but their performance was expected...anything less than that on a helpful pitch was not acceptable. BUT Ishant's fiery spell where he got the 2 wickets of Thiramane and the inform Chandimal was what triggered a collapse and swung the game in India's favor....In the 2nd innings on a helpful pitch for the spinners,he was adequate and also got an important wicket to keep the momentum going. All in all an unsung performance....even cricinfo and other experts gave him the well deserved credit for that spell in the 1st innings but on ICF he is still ridiculed and people feel he is dispensable. WHY THE HATE?

WHY THE HATE? Because the guy has not progressed one inch since his debut. Bowling average of 37.58 after 64 tests is the worst bowling performance by a fast bowler who has played so many tests. No one else is even close to his level of mediocrity.
vvvslaxman Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 He should be world class given his experience. HE was never world class at any point of his career. A bowler who is not world class should not have played this many tests.
maniac Posted August 25, 2015 Author Posted August 25, 2015 Because the guy has not progressed one inch since his debut. Bowling average of 37.58 after 64 tests is the worst bowling performance by a fast bowler who has played so many tests. No one else is even close to his level of mediocrity. We all saw times when he was not playing and we tried others Pankaj Singh or even a dream combo for the average Indian fan like Yadav and Aaron. I know his average is usually brought up all the time but here is the fact,I will admit that he is not a Dale Steyn or for the matter of fact Anderson He could have been as good as Morkel or Broad had he found a decent partner or had atleast 2 other decent bowlers supporting him.....His performances when Zak was in the same X1 are much different than when he is asked to carry all the load himself. How many times has he let down when the other bowlers were stepping up to the plate? It is either he wins games single-handedly or the entire bowling attack screws up which has been the case quiet often. Case in hand-we saw in Srilanka where Ashwin and Mishra stepped up big time in favorable conditions and he has been more than good and executed his role perfectly.
fineleg Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Because given the amount of matches he has been handed, he should be CONSISTENTLY a good bowler, not the dish crap and suddenly bowl well in one match.
adi B Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Pishant is one of the worst bowlers ever produced by a country,he's the afridi of india (afridi is much better than him though)
HippoSucks Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Even for Indian standards he is a mediocre bowler. He performs sometimes but he can not continue living over occasional past glory. An average of 37 is terrible no matter how you put it.
maniac Posted August 25, 2015 Author Posted August 25, 2015 Take example of Broad or Morkel...I have seen them bowl devastating spells when they have support but are ordinary bowlers when given the task of leading the attack all by themselves. Even M.J looks a different bowler when there is forget a Harris who is a class apart but even a consistent bowler like Siddle. The fact is yes he has average stats but you can't blame himself solely as our attack has collectively suck.
maniac Posted August 25, 2015 Author Posted August 25, 2015 Broad had a piss poor average when Anderson was struggling...Anderson found a new spring in his stride and Broad has been one of the most consistent bowlers ever since. Zak's injuries coincided too much with the best part of Ishant's career......in WI and in a few spells in the 2011 tour to England he looked good when PK stepped up...even in Aus 2011,he was the fastest from both sides and was unplayable at times when Umesh and Zak were good but in that match when VK was getting tonked around,he lost rythm too.... Can't put all the blame on one guy. For the last 1.5 years he has been very consistent and looked a different bowler....I guess we can pardon his sins for the time being...there is just too much hate without putting things in context

An average of 37 is terrible no matter how you put it. How did the other bowlers do when he sat down from injury after the Lords win? In Newzealand in that B.Mac 300 game....he was the best bowler in the first innings and almost set up the game....when apart from pitch conditions the entire bowling and most importantly as the case in recent times the fielding messed up
rkt.india Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 I don't think Ishant's average is bad at all. It is all relative to the times he is playing. Most good bowlers in this era averages around 30 apart from Steyn, philander who mostly bowls in SA and Harris. In an era when a lot of bowlers averaged less than 25, our best bowler Kapil Dev averaged about 30. Even Ishant averaged around 31 till 2011 but he lost it at times trying to copy others rather than be himself. He is a steady bowler and will never be an international class.

Amongst those who played 60+ Tests, it is hard to find others with such a high avg.

Give me 4 bowlers in India right now who are hands down better then him or will deliver the kind of performances he has given in all conditions? Bhuvi-Might do well in England and the odd pitch in Newzealand that's about it. Aaron-Fast but needs support...will not deliver all on his own....needs a collective attack to be useful. Yadav-Was probably the best fast bowler for India from 2011-2012 but injuries, selection policy and captain's ineptness kind of let him down and on current form will put Ishant ahead. Shami-one of the Best ODI fast bowlers in the world right now but has lot to prove in test cricket. None of these 4 bowlers in the reckoning can be called to be hands-down above Ishant currently. Mohit,Dhawal etc are a joke to be even considered test class...might be decent utility picks in ODI arena WHO ELSE?

He still can correct it if he goes back to swinging the ball rather than being a Seam bowler with his oldest action. He is just 26
Debutant Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Pissant is piss poor. Deserves all the hate. Pissant is as bad a bowler as Nohit a batsmen. Both deserves all the hate. We will keep hating and you can do jack **** :finger:
