sscomp32 Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 With Yasir shah getting banned, Leg spinners are almost getting extinct. I can only remember 3 Mishra ji, Steve smith (who does not bowl now) and samuel badree (playing BBL) .Anybody else that are leg spinners? express bowling 1

sscomp32 Posted December 27, 2015 Author Posted December 27, 2015 Yeah BG i forgot tahir. Rashid looks nothing special to me. Bishoo is the same.
sourab10forever Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 (edited) Mishra bhavu no 1 Edited December 27, 2015 by sourab10forever
express bowling Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 (edited) Doosras and carrom balls have made the off spinners and left-arm orthodox bowlers more lethal. They always had more control. This could be one of the reasons why leg-spinners are being left out unless they are really good.. Edited December 27, 2015 by express bowling
bulbul Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Leg spin was extinct before as well only Warne revived it till he played..Looks like most difficult discipline of cricket which revives once in a decade or 2. sscomp32 1
Ironhide Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Sad to see Mishra getting dropped but then this is Limited overs cricket and Dhoni hates Mishra, he will be back in the next Test match squad.
Ironhide Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Whats the point of taking mishra to AUS ??We already got enoughAshwin and Jaddu for back up just in case.. I am still trying to figure out why Axar is in the squad now you want 1 more spinner...Mishra would provided variety to the attack, after the Yasir Shah ban Mishra is the best leg spinner in the world. Ashwin and Mishra were the only two required spinners, rest are selectors and Dhoni's picking, Indian Squad selections are always a compromise between Captain and Selectors and that is why you see the weird case of both Jadeja and Axar in the same squad.

Though Mishra is the current best in the world,he just isn't good enough for ODI's. We saw his weaknesses in the saffers ODI series. Got dry cleaned in Mumbai. Can't have him in the team just for having some variety which has no quality. Mishra in tests is different . Naturally India needs a back up and thats Axar(he isn't great either). Gets the edge over mishra for his batting and current performance in the domestic circuit.

It also helps that Axar is a far superior fielder and fielding matters big time in the big Aus grounds
