Yeah has many similarities. Kohli looked the same at his age, I remember seeing a video of Young Kohli in 2007 IIRC and they both look the same :haha:

Hope he come out batting as Kohli as well :nice:

Lomror is 16 yrs old, yet can smash the ball (scored 24 in the last over of the innings yesterday), plus a good bowler for his age.  A yuvraj in making.

he is better bowler than yuvraj...

he can play as a proper all-rounder

Don't know why but my gut feeling says Ishan Kishan is the real deal.

right now pant is doing well but this guy is special with the bat....

Also, there is lot of style about his batting

What is the need to choose between Pant and Kishan ?....Both can play if they are good.

It is difficult to say who successfully play for India among the u19 guys because a lot depends on temperament, hunger for success, focus on self development....and talent is not the be all and end all.

The two players who will make it to Indian team (LOI's) eventually imo is sarfaraz (been a fan for a while now ) and Mahipal lomror .

Sarfaraz : A Dhoni replacement . Him and Hardik Pandya are the only talents I have been excited  in pat couple of years . I like the confidence , the game awareness & looks mentally very strong . This kid is ready to play for India .

Mahipal Lomror :  Still early days , but I was surprised to see how similar his technique & stance was to Raina . Looks a very good timer who can develop into a good finisher may be .The bowling off course is what makes him a very good package .

Sarfaraz is more like Pappu de Silva/Inzy for me (even had a tubby physique in the past). I hope that he begins to bowl again, as he used to.

Lomror is a useful player, but we don't need a Raina clone.. need someone better than him.

Daredevils mentor TA Shekhar says that Pant has potential to be next  David Warner  & Glenn Maxwell

Typical hyping up.

At the moment, he is the one who has not yet completely come to the party. An ideal occasion though in the semis to come good.

Doesn't seem to be much of a big match player. Chand on the other hand, despite his obvious failings, always had a good temperament.

Lomror is the next biggest thing in making in Indian Cricket.

They also said the same about RS Sodhi when he won us the U15 WC, and also about LR Shukla too. Typical behaviour, to hype up 16 and 17 yr olds before they're ready.

Sarfaraz has to mature a bit more in terms of keeping his wicket and playing shots. He just tries too many things sometimes. But, then he is young and I am sure he will mature and make it big for India.

I was impressed with Lomror. You made a good point. He does remind me of Raina.

Sarfaraz has the temperament which others lack. In one of the early U19 matches, he rebuilt with Sundar (I think) and still scored briskly on a bowling-oriented pitch. May not look "classy" but he's a busy player with versatile stroke-making skills.

Btw, why is no one mentioning Sundar - he's batting very much out of position, but he could be a prospect in the longer formats. Also seems to be a useful batting allrounder.

It's all about what you see. They might not progress the way you expect but Lomror has the ingredients, the temperament he shown at this age. You can only talk about what you see at this time.

People also saw the same thing in Sodhi and Shukla as I mentioned - both were excellent fielders, useful middle order bats (fairly quick in scoring) and with the knack of bowling tight and picking up wkts.... It is also clear that they didn't progress sufficiently, and were not international class.

We can talk only about what we see, but why do we even need to talk about him at this stage: we should really be discussing him after 1-2 seasons in the Ranjis, List A, IPL, etc.

I didn't see anything special about Shukla or Sodhi and never talked about them like this. I saw Shukla on his debut and he was nothing special. Also, you talk about how good one is at his age and Lomror is terrific for his age. Sodhi and Shukla were not. In fact, Yuvraj and Kaif were better than Sodhi at their age. Yuvraj was the ones who people really talked about and was the Man of the tournament in 2000 U19 WC. I was a kid at that time and would read it in newspapers. Likes of SRT, Kambli, Hirwani, Kumble, Kohli, Rohit were all talked about at a young age too. Whether they fulfill their potential in future is up to them whether they put the hard work or not. Not everyone is going to do that. Talent is obvious but talent too needs hard yards. The kind of talent Lomror has if he keeps progressing, keeps working on both aspects of his, keeps his head on his shoulders, he is going to go a long way.

If you (in particular) didn't consider them special, good for you. However, I could probably google and find quite a few news clippings from back them when LR Shukla was hyped quite a bit. What I saw of Lomror, I like - even his bowling (which some do not like too much). And, about 2 months ago, the kid wasn't even 16. So yeah, there's potential, but very few have transcended the hype to become something big.

Kambli and Hirwani are classic examples of people who faded away, despite starting with a bang.

And we can only talk about on the basis of what we see at this time. No one can predict what future holds but for now he looks good to go a long way in limited overs cricket. He isnt a top order batsman like Kambli, neither a pace bowling alrounder or a specialist specialist. He has been a batsman who bowls, so, he has two trades he is good at right now, even if one gets really good and one stays average, he will do good.

Let's hope so. His bowling reminds me of Shakib. If he ends up with a similar bowling record (and a better batting one) that would be wonderful.

This is definitely a strong U-19 squad. Lots of names who have already played senior cricket, and even the rest are promising.

Sarfaraz Khan, Armaan Jaffer, Pant and Kishan have all impressed me as batsman (for their age). Sundar and Lomror, in contrasting styles, have done very solidly as batting all-rounders given their remarkably young ages (barely 16). Avesh and Khaleel have a fair bit of pace and accuracy too. I haven't seen enough of Anmolpreet to judge, but he was also talked about. There's Bhui, but he's not done much of note thus far. However, I was surprised that Himanshu Rana (with the best FC record amongst all the U19 batsmen) wasn't selected - seems to be another promising bat.

The only thing that concerns me is the spin stocks. I suppose that Dagar has done fine, but I'm more interested in seeing how Ansari develops, given his young age (barely 16) and discipline (leg spin).

Bhui won us triseries scoring 100 and has already done well for Andhra in List A. also has 1 list A and 2 FC 100s to his name.

His List A record is impressive but not so much hif FC - had a better year this time though (I think both 100s came in this season).

But, the million dollar question is: where are the offies and leggies? Only seem to be seeing left-arm fastish orthodox bowlers

domestic teams do not play leg spinners. There are plenty but they prefer accurate defensive left arm spinners.  Leg spinner can be expensive. For example M. Ashwin, I saw him on his Ranji game 2-3 years back and he looked good, wasnt accurate and went for runs and he barely played 3 FC matches since for TN. They prefer two left arm spinners in Rahil and Aushik and the off spinner Rangrajan. He did play T20 this season and did well.

Talent is not the only factor required for success in international cricket. Temperament,   sufficient intelligence,   hard work and then some more,   hunger for success,   not getting distracted by fame and money,    fitness etc. all contribute towards making top players.

Pant, Sarfraz, Kishan, Lomror, Armaan, Bhui, Avesh, Khaleel, Dagar, Ansari.......all have the talent but not all of them will succeed eventually.

I really like Samar Quadri. He turns his leg-spinners a lot and gets bounce too . Needs to develop his googlies and flippers though.

Even Sarabjit Ladda has improved and looked good in Ranji trophy this season.

Kuldeep Yadav, the chinaman bowler,  did not look that impressive in the only match i saw him bowl.
