BCCI doubles test match fees from 7 lakhs to 15 lakhs

BCCI has doubled the test match fees from 7 lakhs to 15 lakhs.

Also reserve players fees has also been doubled to 7 lakhs

Good initiative. Seems like pretty high number. Even if India play 15 tests per years that like 3 5 matches series which obviously do. That's like 2.25 crore per year for a regular players.

India rarely plays 15 tests a year. Generally it's 8-10 tests

Its important for somebody like Che who does not have an IPL team to feel well paid. Other test players like Murli too might be in the same boat soon.

 

India IMO needs more classic test players like Che Murli Rahane etc. I would go one step further and make the central contract for test players 2 crore. + fees. If test only players can get about 2-4 crore a year then its a profession worth taking up in comparison to T20 and Odis

 

If Che feels he is well paid IMO he might aim to just concentrate on tests and even take up offers to play overseas during the IPL.

I am also looking at a player like Saha. 32 and has played two crucial innings batting at 7.Lets be frank he is not going to break into team India in the LOI. 

 

So why dont the BCCI say to Saha, play only test cricket and we will pay you 2 crore per year for say another 4 years plus the match fees.

 

This way Saha can concentrate on a country stint.
