We, Indians have the luxury of cheap labor in India so we get all our stuff made from carpenters etc It's a different concept in the west, people prefer to buy the materials and make their own. I have even noticed that in a case of a simple coax cable which you can buy at the local radio shack for 5 bucks, they will take the trouble to goto Home Depot and get the materials to make a own wire But it's not all about labor cost, they like to do it I never got this concept, sweat over all that work and "might" just finish what I wanted to, an unprofessional job.

It all depends. Generally I find fellow desis are very cheap. They spend hours walking around trying to save an extra pound. I never got that concept either! I rather pay one pond more and chill out for one hour with people that are important to me. Stuff like PC I build myself for quality and specialist parts reason. Most other things are not worth the effort so I buy them pre made. Life is too short to sweat over small money!

Really, like what woodwork. Its obviously not to save the money but do you get books etc or subscribe to DIY channel The first time, I made a garland of bulbs - created a massive short circuit

Really' date=' like what woodwork.[/quote'] Well when I was in India me and dad used to work in our garage at times and build small little things like bedside tables, doghouse etc. Nothing too fancy, but a bit of fun. These days, it's mostly just assembling stuff that I buy :D.. I like doing that, like Cricketics says above "assembling TV stands" ... hehe it's a lotta fun.

Oh no ! That is bad news ! One should never let anyone who wanted to change her surname to "Bandookwaali" to get anywhere near tools that can be potentially used to cause harm to human life ! Beets definitely has some hidden violent tendencies in her ! :nervous:
