Rajiv Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 We, Indians have the luxury of cheap labor in India so we get all our stuff made from carpenters etc It's a different concept in the west, people prefer to buy the materials and make their own. I have even noticed that in a case of a simple coax cable which you can buy at the local radio shack for 5 bucks, they will take the trouble to goto Home Depot and get the materials to make a own wire But it's not all about labor cost, they like to do it I never got this concept, sweat over all that work and "might" just finish what I wanted to, an unprofessional job.
chunky_lafanga Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 It all depends. Generally I find fellow desis are very cheap. They spend hours walking around trying to save an extra pound. I never got that concept either! I rather pay one pond more and chill out for one hour with people that are important to me. Stuff like PC I build myself for quality and specialist parts reason. Most other things are not worth the effort so I buy them pre made. Life is too short to sweat over small money!

Zinggggg :P I love building/assembling stuff ! Electrical, woodwork, software.. all kinda stuff. Love the concept of "creating/modifying" stuff to my needs/as per my imagination:D

These days, it's mostly just assembling stuff that I buy :D.. I like doing that, like Cricketics says above "assembling TV stands" ... hehe it's a lotta fun.
