In the earlier polls BJP finished 1st SS finished 2nd IIRC. This was on the heels of both demonetization and the Maratha reservation stir.

I can guarantee you after this round, If Modi wins next elecetion and does come with another IDS in year 1 of his tenure, there will be queue.

:facepalm:Gandhigiri works. Government caved in to opposition demands. Another IDS launched mid session of demonetization starting 17th Dec. If I was Rohit Tandon and them Havala and jewelers, I would feel hard done.

Government releases email id for black money info, urges evaders to join new disclosure scheme

Quote

NEW DELHI: The government on Friday urged people to take advantage of the last window for disclosing black money and make declarations under the PM Garib Kalyan Yojana that opens on Saturday even as it sought information from public on those trying to hide their money.

"We want people to join the PM Garib Kalyan Yojana and through this scheme they can contribute to the welfare of the people," revenue secretary Hasmukh Adhia said.

The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) provides for 50 per cent tax and surcharge on declarations of unaccounted cash deposited in banks. Declarants also have to park a quarter of the total sum in a non-interest bearing deposit for four years.

The government also released an email id blackmoneyinfo@incometax.gov.in and urged people to mail any information about people who have black money.

Day of DeMo demons

- Factory owners say what Big Business won't

Dec. 15: From murder to disenchantment to skewering questions, seemingly unconnected events in the past 24 hours in places far apart from one another have brought to the fore the unintended consequences of demonetisation in the country.

Key message

Over 100 factory owners in Amritsar have handed over keys of their units to the district administration in a symbolic protest that stood out in sharp contrast with the public pronouncements of support for demonetisation from most of corporate India.

"The problem is very simple. We cannot run our units any more. Let the government do it," said Amit Dalmiya, who runs a textile processing unit in Amritsar.
