Temujin Khaghan
OK. The more of think about the movie. They portrayed it like mahabharat. I dont know how many people observed the resemblance here. Kauravas and Pandavas fight for the kingdom. Rana gang for Kauravas he himself potrayed like duryodhan with his weapon resembling that and also the strongest person. Prabhas as arjuna all of the posters and movie highlight his bow and arrow skills. didn't rajamouli himself say this before the launch all his movies will have shades/characters from the puranas and amar chitra katha type stories his ultimate aim is to make mahabharat ... :hatsoff:

Temujin Khaghan
I wasn't aware of that. At least that part is good. from 1:19 - 2:00 EvxWO8XcQoY in another interview he said that magadheera and baahubali are dress rehearsals for mahabharat. Magadheera has 45 minute period sequence. Baahubali is a 2 part- 5 hour period sequence. So he is slowly getting ready for a massive 5-7 parts mahabharat film series. I think it will be a direct hindi series. vayuu1
No one will come to watch Mahabharat if he makes it. That's coz James Cameron has plans regarding indian epics, either ramayana or Mahabharata, heard he is planning it after Avatar series, he himself stated in an interview that it will atleast require 2 or 3 times more budget than Avatar on either epics and the whole series need massive budget, atleast upto the lifetime profit of Avatar or toy story. Temujin Khaghan
If not rajamouli then rather, some other Indian director should make Mahabharat... even a highly sensitive director did not back off from showing Indian royalty eating monkey brains and sheep eyes in Temple of doom. We all know what happened in SDM. and both Boyle and Spielberg aren't exactly rednecks either. I dont trust hollywood with Indian epics.
Kalia_Test
I will trust only Shankar sir or Rajamouli sir to make Mahabharat in all its glory without worrying about money...HIrani too but he is not into this kind of stuff. On financing, I am very sceptical. Directors might have vision and all that but money is important. Assuming Mahabharat will be 5 part series ( i.e very abridged) each about 3 hrs long, at a minimum we need 500 crores to really depict the Epic as per current Technology. Problem is Stars. If you want AB as Bhishma, Hrithik as Arjun, John Abraham as Bhima ( or Duryodhan ), SRK as Krishna, etc - Film will have little budget to spend on actual expenditure... Good that Bahubali took Tier 2 actors from Telugu so that money is spent on real things that matter. :two_thumbs_up:

rkt.india
Are there some forces which are acting intentionally to help 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' gain victory over 'Baahubali'? According to sources working at multiplexes in Noida region, some influential people in Bollywood are leaving no stone unturned to help 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' defeat 'Baahubali' box-office collections. "Most of the shows of 'Baahubali' were packed in Noida theaters, intentionally, attempts were made to take the SS Rajamouli's blockbuster off screens in order to show Salman Khan's 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan'," a source at a Noida multiplex told News18 on condition of anonymity. Also, 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' was declared tax-free in UP which is also likely to give a push to its collections. However, multiplexes in Noida are yet to implement the tax-free order of UP government. "Makers of 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' met UP CM Akhilesh Yadav and requested to make the movie tax-free in UP as Salman has great fan following in the state," a source said. "Moreover, 'Baahubali' was a big competition to 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' and as it was already a hit, so making the movie tax-free will automatically attract audience, that too on the occasion of Eid," the source added. 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' vs 'Baahubali': Number of screens Wave Cinemas in Noida is screening 16 shows a day of 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' while 'Baahubali' has got just 3 shows. At Spice, 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' has got 18 shows a day while 'Baahubali' has just 6 shows. SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali' has broken most of the recors and has become the first south Indian film to enter the Rs 300 crore club in just nine days. 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' is also receiving applauds for its work. On Day 6, the collections of the Salman Khan-starrer stand at a whopping Rs 169.07 crore in India. 'Baahubali', a Telugu-Tamil film, dubbed in Malyalam and Hindi, had earned a monstrous Rs 50 crore on July 10, its release date. In six days, for example, the earnings of SS Rajamouli's film stood at Rs 236 crore. 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' vs 'Baahubali': Box-office collections While Bajrangi Bhaijaan is behind Baahubali as far as the total collections are concerned, however, it shot past Baahubali's Day 6 worldwide collection with Rs 238.07 crore. Interestingly, the stories of both Baahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijaan have been penned by the same person i.e. SS Rajamouli's father KV Vijayendra Prasad. http://www.news18.com/news/uttar-pradesh/are-attempts-being-made-to-help-bajrangi-bhaijaan-gain-victory-over-baahubali-774881.html

Kalia_Test
Prabhas is paid 20 crores for Bahubali. It must be for parts 1 and 2. We need to remember that Prabhas gave up a full 3-3.5 years without any other film just for this. Now imagine how much Hrithik will take for his 3.5 years ( if he is indeed ready ) - 80 crores? Now do that for the other biggies - 300 crores will be for stars themselves

There have been instances of fights like once Ajay Devgan accused SRK or someone of booking all theatres. After first week, the cinema owners will have an idea of expected audience and will take a pure business decision. Hard to believe that they will knowingly screen a movie with less expected audience unless someone is paying them to do so.

Temujin Khaghan
If someone made a low budget movie about a social issue like human trafficking, female infanticide or child labour and asked for tax remission, that would have been more appropriate. Bollywood's reigning superstar needs a tax remission because he has more fans in that state?

zen
Oh boy, appears as if Bajrangi Bhaijan has shattered overseas BO numbers. From what I recall reading it was at $13m after first week .... The Mango-men were going all gaga over $20 loot of Bahubali raking in some $3m to $5m after the first week In Ind, the collections are judged by net figures (total gross less taxes), so I would assume that Bahubali's net figures would be lower Follow taran adarsh ✔@taran_adarsh #BajrangiBhaijaan Overseas Week 1: $ 13 million [₹ 83.29 cr].
