zen Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 On the issue -> the govt should do something about such malice .... such practices have the tendency to destroy lives Though I dont know why a religious color is given to such topics On the stats -> It should be: * a) total Ind population * % of children * b) 12M / a (likely to be a small number) If religious color needs to be given: * c) hindu population (roughly 80%) * % of children (under 10 ) * d) 84% of 12M / c (this number could be relatively lower too) randomGuy 1

The silence itself display that there is silence support on this. Isn't it shameful that Hindu party and organisations have gained so much power but they are not doing anything on it but instead saying because Hindu's are 80% so this figure is also going to be 80 means in reality we are as backward as muslims

Hindus form the large majority, so the number representing Hindus will usually be large I believe that everyone, irrespective of their religion, should speak up on such issues. Your point appears to be more along the lines that if A spoke on X issue, A should speak on Y issue as well. If not it is some kind of a crime if B did not speak on X issue, it is ok if B also does not speak on Y issue. Since B did not speak on anything, it is OK Many of your posts follow such fallacies ***** PS using fallacies such as the ones you tend to use, one could even go on to imply that since only 3% of Muslims join Indian Army, they are not as patriotic as people of some of the other religions http://thediplomat.com/2014/05/indias-muslim-soldiers/ Quote There is, however, an unofficial number, and it is revealing. According to CNN IBN’s Minority Report, of India’s one million soldiers only 3 percent are Muslims, or roughly 29,000 soldiers in all. And if the troops serving in the Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI), are subtracted (50 percent of whom are Muslim troops), that percentage is much lower. With only 29,000 fit for the army out of 150 million Muslims in the country, the ambiguous silence of the government tends to validate the suspicion of discrimination. People can give religious colors to about anything .... and such dumb presentation of stats and use of fallacies have to stop ***** PPS you are entitled to like/dislike certain political parties, but there would be no point in trying to just post things from a political perspective Edited April 3, 2017 by zen
chewy Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 Shameful stuff but these numbers were based 2011 census, we have seen a lot of awareness raised in last decade especially more emphasis on girl education hopefully 2021 census show an improvement
Texan Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 It seems like this is more an "India" problem rather than a "Hindu" problem. Article unnecessarily bringing religion into the picture here. This is a rural as well as a literacy problem, especially literacy beyond just basic schooling. As literacy goes up and urbanization increases, this problem should trend lower.
