I am glad he was dropped. He was a liability as a batsman in the side for a long time now, and even his IPL performance this year was poor. I am happy BCCI and the Indian team management are now following the perform or perish approach, even to players like him who would have, in another time, been put on a pedestal among the legends of Indian cricket and made undroppable just for winning an ICC tournament under his captaincy.

( fatoregac)Fan andolan to remove gambhir as coach
adkrish22290 replied to Malcolm Merlyn's topic in Cricket Talk
As red ball coach, definitely Gambhir must be removed as the results are mediocre and our chances of reaching the WTC final are almost over. The white ball results are much better to his credit. BCCI needs to go for separate red and white ball coaches and replace Gambhir as Test coach with someone else, can be a foreign coach also with good red ball coaching pedigree. -
What is contribution of Indian cricket in cricket history?
adkrish22290 replied to Trichromatic's topic in Cricket Talk
Nothing innovative in cricket for sure. Mostly: 1. Financial clout 2. Bullying other cricketing nations to toe its line and ensure they face the consequences if they don't (such as cancelling or reducing the number of matches in a tour or home series with that nation, players from those defiant nations not picked in IPL etc.) 3. Bullying ICC to get the majority of revenue and ensure the international calendar is scheduled to suit it and the IPL window 4. Unnecessary jingoism and bravado, especially against Pakistan -
Definitely this is the darkest period for Indian cricket, even the mediocre Indian team of the 90s used to dominate at home, on turners mind you. This is the first time the Indian Test team will be potentially whitewashed in consecutive home Test series, and that too to NZ and SA who have generally struggled in India.

1. Sack Gambhir. He may continue as white-ball coach where his record is good but definitely not in Tests. Need separate coaching staff and captaincy for red and white ball teams. 2. Stop picking players based on IPL performance and pick proven performers at Ranji level, even if they never get picked for IPL (Pujara never played IPL since 2014 and he was one of India's best number 3 batsmen ever). 3. Stop with this idea of picking multiple "all-rounders" in the side to boost the batting, will work in T20 but definitely not in Tests which is a specialist's game. 4. Stop focusing on producing "all-format players" and focus on building specific teams for Tests and T20s (ODIs can overlap) just like other countries. 5. Enough of the experiments with the batting order and focusing on potential "matchups", it only breeds insecurity and lack of confidence in the player's mind. Nobody bothered about matchups and all back in the 2000s.

Does Virat Kohli deserves a farewell test series?
adkrish22290 replied to KV244's topic in Cricket Talk
Virat deserves a farewell game, but only in ODI, which is his best format. In Tests, he struggled for a long time and was completely out of touch, did not bother to fix his glaring technical issues, but still remained in the team because of superstar status and PR. He was never a great Test player and just had a good patch in the mid-late 2010s. If anyone deserved a farewell Test, it is Ashwin and Pujara, they contributed a lot to Indian Test cricket and their value is more than that of Virat's. -
Rohit and Virat ODI Future - World Cup 2027
adkrish22290 replied to wanted_desi's topic in Cricket Talk
Rohit and Virat should be phased out of ODIs and not considered for the 2027 WC. They will be bereft of match practice (100% they will play only IPL and some ODIs prior to WC and will not play Vijay Hazare for sure) and won't be fully match fit. They can't play in the 2027 WC just because of their past as legendary ODI players. It's time to get in Jaiswal in place of Rohit to open with Gill (the new ODI captain) and Tilak Varma in place of Virat. Time for Gambhir to again make the call to get rid of these 2 leeches. -
