Dharamsala Pitch

If I am being completely honest, this is probably not the kind of pitch India would have wanted for a deciding test against Aussies but purely from a quality point of view, this is perhaps the best pitch I have ever seen in India. Kudos to the curator for making such a sporting wicket. It had something for everyone. Genuine bounce, a bit of lateral movement for fast bowlers, decent turn and bounce for spinners and if you are good enough you could play your strokes due to the true nature of the bounce. Although it ended in just over 3 days, it was only because both Australia and India scored slightly below par in their first innings and obviously Australia collapsed in the second innings. We need more such wickets in India. 

 

Dharamsala should become a permanent test venue for India. Easily one of the most beautiful grounds in the world. The only issue was crowd numbers, especially on weekdays but barring a few main centers you hardly get crowd for test cricket in India. I also think that if you promote well, people would travel to Dharamsala for cricket+holiday from other places, especially from Delhi.

Regarding crowd.....It is exam season in India.

I feel this is going to become a legendary ground. Just keep the conditions similar and don't make too many drastic changes. This ground soon will start getting more and more people in test matches. People would love to travel to this venue to watch India play test match. In fact many overseas fans would love to travel here to watch their team compete against India.

 

This is "love at first sight" ground which you can never ever say when you talk about grounds from subcontinent. 

 

Special place. We need to use it more for Tests.

They should get rid of those pan masala ads though. If you have noticed Indian grounds look much better during ICC tourneys because they don't have those stupid ads. BCCI makes enough money already, a few crores wouldn't make much of a difference TBH.

pitches are fast when they are relaid then they become progressively slower like in Mohali.

Lol yes but that is probably one of the sponsors,  so can't really do much about that as they are making money from the sponsor. 

 

Yes, those crazy sponsor logos need to be sorted and put elsewhere.

I love this ground. I can see cricket fans from other parts of India traveling to this place to watch cricket in the nearby future. Weather is pleasant during summer and location is awesome.

I don't think that's a valid reason. There are enough people in India to fill a cricket ground no matter what time of the year it is. You play an ODI between India and Australia tomorrow at the same ground, it will be packed. The main reason is that BCCI has failed to promote test cricket over the years the way CA and ECB have done. Also people in India get too much cricket these days. Before the IPL era, test cricket used to get good to decent crowd pretty much everywhere. People would still come if they have the right strategies. I mean at some venues you are forced to buy 5 days tickets. Nobody has time to go to a game everyday. It is just a small example to show how neglectful they have been.
