speedheat Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Dada brought turn around in Indian Cricket in truest sense.Greatest Indian captain after Kapil dev. Dhoni has more achivements(quantity) but dada has true achivement(quality) Doesn't care how he or dhoni or Sachin or anyone is in personal life. No doubt Dada was our best captain after kapil as Dada was actually selfless and cared about team unlike dhoni who cared only about himself, dada, for a start, took over as captain at the toughest time that Indian cricket has ever faced in its long history. Afflicted by the match-fixing scandal in 2000s, bcci deposed their faith in Ganguly to take over the reins from Mohammad Azharuddin. Not only was dada entrusted with the taskof helping India win cricket matches after a prolonged period of failure, but he also had to somehow restore the faith of the Indian fan. And he did so in splendid fashion with the able help of players like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble alongside him. MS Dhoni, relatively at least, took over at a much smoother time for Indian cricket and had a group of players at his disposal who were truly at the peak of their powers. Since 2011, Dhoni hasn’t been able to match up to his early success and that is because of the fact that his established players, who had served him so well previously, were on the wane, which only goes to show how difficult a job Ganguly had on his hands while taking over, but chamchas will be chamchas to understand this [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23] Pollack 1
speedheat Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 He got banned because he said lundulkar. Call him lendulkar or endulkar or chokdulkar that's fine. Now go and remind players name if you want. Lol and i thought he got banned because he accepted me that he had a low IQ Number 1

A true Street smart cricketer. But the praise for him is disproportional and sometimes at the expense of others. Upvote is for rest of your post about Ganguly which I agree. speedheat 1

Yes that's also the one way of judging dhoni agreed
CG Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Problem with Dhoni was he got involved in politics with Srini.

So a guy scoring nearly 10K runs in odis while averaging 51, and scoring nearly 5K runs in Tests averaging 38 in 90 Tests, and too as a wkt keeper is "limited player" Oh man you learn something new everytime you are on ICF I wish we get more of such "limited players" in the future Shunya 1

You think dhoni is not a limited player? Dhoni fans are really living in some alternate reality

If Dhoni's stats in odis are limited I'm all eager to hear about someone who's not "limited" in shorter formats
CG Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 lol seriously? You think dhoni is not a limited player? Dhoni fans are really living in some alternate reality Yeah Dhoni biggest strength is he knows his limitations .You never see him promote himself to face quick bowling . speedheat and kira 2

Also all the successes are given to his captaincy where as all failures are blamed on bowling, fielding, seniors, juniors etc

It's is not about the runs, dhoni has done well to score those runs despite being a limited player, it also helped that he was captain so he could manipulate his batting position to his own advantage, anyone who knows anything about cricket or has played any cricket knows that dhoni is a very limited batsman, even dhoni will agree with this, dhoni can praised for achieving so much with his limited game, it is not a dig at dhoni. No no I've seen the light and "get" how ordinary and "limited" Dhoni has been for India. Hell I've yet to see a more "limited" batsman for India who scored all those fluky runs at a lowish average of 51 as a wkt keeper. The most ordinary and limited player I've seen.

No, you haven't seen the light but you will if you go read dhoni's interview a few years ago when he was struggling on overseas tours, he himself said that he doesn't have the technique to play swing so he was trying a new strategy to counter that

Dhoni is predominantly front foot batsman who prefers on side.He hardly had a great cover drive or cut shot. His backfoot offside game is non existent. His strength are he is good hitter down the ground. maniac and kira 2

No I don't. I don't think I can ever call someone averaging 51 with 10K runs "limited". Maybe for you even Bevan was limited as well but for me "limited" has a different meaning and no I don't think a "limited" player can get to 10K runs averaging 51 in intl cricket.

It's pretty common term in batsmanship.Steve waugh scored a ton of runs but it more attributed to his mental strength.
