Thats because he pitches it up a lot which may not be a bad thing in Lords, Birmingham Edgbaston, Leeds Headingley and Nottingham Trent bridge, but not in Oval or Southampton Rose Bowl which is flat .. so I would go for horses for courses.. So is Shardul If Ash plays then Shardul has to be dropped and we have to play either Jadeja or Hardik at 7. Having Jadeja as the lone spinner allows us to play 4 specialist pace bowlers ... 2 fast bowlers + 2 swing bowlers. This will give us tremendous versatility. Don't you think this can be an advantage in England ? IN ENG , if we are thinking that ASh & Jaddu would be required in the X1 , we are admitting that our pacers will fail and there ends any chance of a good show in Eng as our batting is the weak link. Hence there is place for 1 spinner and that spinner should be the attacking spinner with lot more guile . Ideal should be 3 best pacers + Ash + Hardik . Since hardik may not be put under stress , he may not bowl much . So we may end up with Shardul at 7 in atleast 1-2 matches . We may even end up with Jaddu at 7 as Ash nowadays does not last full series. Lets see , we are touring in 2nd half and if its a dry summer , both spinners may play in one of the flat pitches . Who knows . Edited January 22, 2021 by prudent_kreeda Link to comment

I think Jaddu at No 7 and as the lone spinner solves most problems The slight fall in bowling quality will be offset by having a really strong 4 pronged pace attack. Link to comment

Totally! That Raina-type vibes are always welcome in the team and adds to the team spirit. I am very excited about what he has to offer in England during the summer. A bit more accuracy with the ball and some luck, to complement his pluck with the bat, will add immense depth to our team. Frustrated 1 Link to comment
