great achievement from a certified ATG (tests at least)  in the making. Having said that I don't think he would have averaged this high against so many <25 averaging bowlers of the bygone eras , especially that of the 80s & 90s.

Ponting had great avg but he never had such impact with bat as smith has also smith is batting in one of the weakest aus batting line up as ponting batted with one of the greatest.

He is also batting in one of the weakest bowling eras. Most of the great bowlers of today's have either declined or just started their test career.

Smith gone for 23  !!!!! His  figures stands at 124inns   16NO  6973runs  64.56 avg:

BTW Sachin has a phase  of  150 inns where he averged 63.3 vs non minnows.

Sachin did it against several <25 averaging bowlers. This phase of Sachin  would be an interesting comparison with Smith  moving  forward

Ponting is closest to Bradman in his peak along with Smith.Ponting's knocks against SA in SA and in Australia are legendary.Ponting was a beast in his prime.Smith does not have that strong team so I would put Smith ahead. Noone is close to these two .

A phase of continuous 150 innings with an average  of 63 that too against non minnows. That's more than mohd azaharudin entire career.
