Good luck Gambo..i think you are going to be dogfood in Australia and later on vs South Africa( if the selectors are dumb enough to select you for the Tests that is).
i hope u don't run away and show up here on icf when the time come

He falls too often after making good starts. History isnt made from quick and ultimately futile 25s and 30s and Gambhir knows that. There is no use finishing the best ever runner-up. Gambhir needs to win matches for us, he is a top-oder player, thats his job. Its doesnt matter how good/bad player he is, as long as his contributions DONT lead to Indian victories, he himself wont be satisfied. He has plenty of inspiration within the team itself, with players like Sachin around him.

^an opener can't walk u to victory single handedly.. middle and perhapz lower order also needz to contribute.. its failing rite now.. which is understandable.. given that its their first series all together.. offcourse.. Gambhir can do better then this too.. that said.. credit shoudn't be taken away from him.. he has batted well in this series when team needed him.. and Dhoni, what a fantastic bat he is turning out to be..

He has had enough time. He is now 35 matches old in international cricket, thats plenty of time to get used to the pressures of the game and start delivering consistent performances. Public memory is harshly selective, GG may top score this series with his 30s and 40s, but say, if he is injured later on and his replacement comes in and scores a match-winning 100, GG will be forgotten soon. And look at some of the names he is keeping out of the team - Ganguly, Dravid, Kaif, Raina, Karthik. Its not like there arent any replacements around. He has been a lucky benefactor of a management policy to go for youth. Under normal circumstances, Dravid would have taken his place.

don't bring in name of dravid and ganguly.. because even along with them he was in the team.. actualy is raina and sharma who are keeping dravid and ganguly out.. rohit has alredy shown promise.. raina is yet to show.. and gambhir has already played few good knocks when team needed.. it's not him who has kept dravid out agian.. its the other new playerz.. Gambhir would have been selected in the squad anyway considering his decent odi record off late.. Dhoni got tiwary and Raina as the replacement for Ganguly and Dravid..

Fair point, you are right. But, wont you agree me with me that He has to convert more of his starts into substantial scores ?

offcourse i agree on that.. but then at same time i would also disagree with his exclusion from the team unless senior batsman like Dravid is to replace him.. because Gambhir has been better then any other youngster so far..

Okay Folkz.. What Happend Now?? Still Doubt??? Another Great Knock From Gambhir.. Had To Go For Big Shotz As Run Rate Was Slowin Down And We Were Almost In Last 10 Overz.. Brilliant Hundred.. Kudoz. And Hatz Off To Gambhir P.S - THIS THREAD WAS CREATED BEFORE THE START OF THIS TRI SERIES

I agree. Especially for scoring runs against Lee and co and that too under lights, chasing a mammoth total, with most of the batting having been wiped off just for 50 runs, I don't doubt Gambhir at all now. He proved himself against Murali and co, and now today vs Australia too. Well done!

he has proved that he is now capable in 50 overs format too...but i still think that he is most valuable at #3 then opening...incase if sehwag or SRT injured and any of them dont play a game then uthappa should open and gambir just stay at #3....atleast from now on india should stick to regualr #3 batsman rather then changing around every time...

i always knew gambhir would play well in this series. he should even be made as the captain of the indian team. he took delhi to a ranji trophy win after 16 years and he was in a smashing form himself hitting 100s after 100s in ranji including a 100 in the final in a pressure situation. also, gambhir has been the best batsman in this series by a fair distance. 2 100s in high-pressure situations and even when he is not getting 100s, making crucial 20s/30s in other innings as well

exactly. he should stay at number three and not open anymore. he sucks as an opener. anyway, one of the best knocks while chasing for an indian batsman. gotta give credit to him as i also doubted that he would succeed in australia.

gambhir should be made a permanent no.3 batsman. he looks more comfortable@3. also, gambhir plays spinners including muralitharan really well where he tends to struggle a bit against pacers sometimes at the start of his innings

I must say I am terribly impressed with this guy nowadays. He has the hustler's streak about him, like he is always up for a fight. One thing's for sure, GG will never die wondering. Even if he goes down, he generally goes down in a blaze.
