Pancho Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Why the Dhoni hate ? dont understand this.. why is there a fair bit of distaste for dhoni amongst you guys ? he seems to be your most decent wicket keeper/ batsman in a long time ? aggressive and his glovework seems tidy enough.. is there another keeper you would prefer to see in the side ?
varun Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 He's a victim of high expectations since he started off so well (batting wise)
Cricketics Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 personally i don't mind Dhoni turning up for India in both test and odiz.. perhapz some ppl over here don't want to see him play in our test side and they reckon parthiv patel should replace him
Pancho Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 parthiv patel ? surely not.. your batting lineup looks so much better with dhoni.
Cricketics Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 offcourse it doez.. but some ppl don't understand that..
Chandan Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 I think the sudden hate for Dhoni is because he has tried to assert himself as a captain in the ODIs by asking the selectors to drop a few senior batsmen like Ganguly and Dravid.
Gambit Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 As Chandan said, Dhoni is getting tap because he urged the selectors to select youngster over Ganguly and Dravid. As I've said before, Dhoni is a strong captain and the selectors have done well to repose trust in him and allowed him to make his own team. Quite like Ganguly at his peak(when he was criticised for dropping Kumble for some games, despite them being the right moves then).
fineleg Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Most of the flak MSD is getting is becos he is failing us in the batting department. MSD batting has been far below the mark.
Chandan Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 As Chandan said' date=' Dhoni is getting tap because he urged the selectors to select youngster over Ganguly and Dravid. Quite like Ganguly at his peak(when he was criticised for dropping Kumble for some games, despite them being the right moves then).[/quote'] The thing is, is Dhoni ready to take the early losses in his stride then? Are the selectors going to be patient with these youngsters? Does Dhoni have batsmen in the rank of Sachin and Dravid who can be consistent? Too many questions but the answers are not evident. A general fan will certainly get angry.
putrevus Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Dhoni gives guideline to 2011 world cup haha Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni backed his young team and outlined his vision for the 2011 World Cup after the opening game of the tri-series against Australia was washed out here on Sunday. "If we are looking for a team for 2011 World Cup, it's important that we have guys who have played 80-100 matches by then. I think this is the team I wanted," an earnest Dhoni said. "This is the plan which can succeed it can backfire as well. But they (the youngsters) need the right opportunity and base to perform." Why are we talking about 2011 now , didnt we hear this nonsense last time for 2007 under guru Greg , this is all bull crap which Dhoni is giving us , who cares about 2011 now , let us win matches now not in 2011. This is certainly is not the way to build the team for future, Dhoni , Yuvraj , Bhajji , and all other seniors in this side were initiated slowly in the team , when they started first all of them were given very little responsibility , they were batting with all the seniors and start who took the pressure of them which allowed them to play their natural game. You dont remove all of your senior players and flood team with rookies to build for future. Rohit sharma was batting at no 4 yesterday , he might be a good player but he is not ready to bat at no 4 , even dravid sachin ganguly were eased into sides not forced them into performing straight away, the way Dhoni pushed Manoj Tiwari to wolves is shameful , he should have sent Uttapa or himself and taken pressure off the youngster to face Lee in his full swing. Who ever has made this team selection needs to be sacked ASAP , you cannot have extremes in the selection process, look at Australia they have tried the replacements much before making them permanent so that they dont look lost, this process is doomed to fail, this is self induced failure which Indian team doesnt need at this juncture. Rookies need to be given confidence and shot to succeed not to fail like this selection committee has done, they kept on singing this very same song (building for world cup 2007) till last year world cup then suddenly changed and gave away to seniors in 2007 world how it turned we all know. your views
Rajan Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 by the end of the series, he should make some decent runs in australia. otheriwse he will be forever branded as an FTB. He would lose respect in front of his team mates. already GG and rohit are showing that they r more comfortable playing there.Yuvi is also in line to get his share of criticism, if he does not forget about romancing and plays good cricket
IndianRenegade Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Mods pls join these threads: Why the Dhoni hate ? Dhoni gives guideline to 2011 world cup haha Dhoni Exposed... Since all of them are related to Dhoni, it will be better that way.
IndianRenegade Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 The wicketkeeper-batsman said he picked Manoj Tiwary by instinct ahead of Suresh Raina even though the Bengal youngster arrived in Australia only yesterday. "I go by instinct. It doesn't matter that he arrived only yesterday or he didn't have enough practice. It's tough cricket and good ones can adapt quickly," he said. This is nonsense! You can't just go by instinct all the time... is this gilli thanda? You can't play an under prepared player against the world's best. You got to know this being a captain of a team which aspires to win the 2011 WC.
Rajan Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Manoj Tewary may be a good guy. but he should have been played after giving an opportunity to Suresh Raina. Raina has done well before he lost his form.he has a wise head and can perform under pressure. now that they have played Manoj, i think they should continue to play him, not drop him immeately, that will put him back.
Guest Hiten. Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 This is nonsense! You can't just go by instinct all the time... is this gilli thanda? I mean Tiwary could have been feeling jet lagged and no one could do anything about it. Practice makes man perfect, how the fook is Tiwary to understand Aussie wickets if he is not given some hits in nets.
bunny Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 I think there's double talk from Dhoni & co. First they said that RD wasn't in form. Next they said that SG's fielding is not upto the mark. Now, they are saying that they want to give youngsters a chance. That's a cowardly attitude. Dhoni it's time to face the music. Show that you and the youngsters belong.
bigdhoni7 Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Picking Tiwary was a big blunder on dhoni's part. he has no choice now but to continue playing him and make sure his failure today doesn't ruin his confidence. And the way dhoni's batting dravid like, i think he has no choice but to move himself up the order now coming in at the four slot.
Guest HariSampath Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Dhoni is an exceptional cricketer and ODI captain, lets face it. He is also human and he has not been performing at his brilliant levels as a one day batter, this is true, he has also said stupid things like 20/20 being practice...and stupid team selection, but lets back the young , fit, aggressive brigade policy, we have just played one ODI, and we will prove. Go Dhoni and his men !!! :two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up::two_thumbs_up:
