2-2 draw or 2-1 India coming up... Indian team is way better than last series with best fast bowling attack possible...

Bowling .. Our 2 best pacers (Bhuvi, Bumrah) are injured.

 

Batting ... Most unsettled Indian lineup in a long long time.

Vijay - on his last legs, out of form and fitness

Dhawan - in very good form but his performances before in SENA have been dodgy

Pujara - mostly been crap away from sub-con conditions

Rahul - handled badly, been in n out of test team

Rahane - been poor in the long home season

 

If all players were available to play and in good form, then yeah we would have had a very good chance to win the series.

But this team ... with injuries and out of form players ... very unlikely to win more than 1 test in the series.

A lot depends on the first test as this is a mentally fragile team and if it goes behind will struggle to get back. Lose it and the house of cards will crumble fast and could be looking at a heavy series loss.

The batting will still be dodgy as the last test series as we are not even sure who's going to perform. Even Kohli's form is not a certainty in these conditions. But one thing that has been improved under Kohli in Test is our bowling performance. It's not doom and gloom as compared to LOI where Dhoni factor is still hindering the growth of our team.

You are underestimating too much just because we are touring SENA. 

How is our batting lineup unsettled? Most of our batsman are going to tour England for the 2nd time. They are neither too old nor too young. All of them have been playing consistent cricket for good amount of time. Just that they scored loads on home and easier tours and now the conditions are testing. Kohli is now the top batsman in the world so no point in underplaying that card just because we are touring England. Rahul the next phenom batsman has to come good now. They all have to be expected to perform after so much experience or else there is no point in touring SENA anytime because we will never be ready and good enough. English bowling is not as lethal as it was in past tours and their pitches are also becoming batting friendly. Its high time our batsman show their worth and match English batting.

 

Bumrah is going to miss only 1 test. And in all probability bhuvi will be back for last 2. Even apart from them Shami, Ishant, Yadav all of them have been really good for us. And if you compare it to England attack which is old and out of steam, we are way better.

 

Ashwin, Jaddu and Kuldeep has to be one of the best spin attack in the world. If moeen and rashid can create so much problems for our batsman, why should we expect anything less from our spinners who have been world class to say the least.

 

Hardik, Ashwin, Jaddu - A/Rs - Not really new to this anymore, have been rated highly so dont understand the low expectations except Hardik probably. But he is picked because he is special. 

 

DK, Pant - One if vastly experienced and at peak of his batting form and another one is the new phenom as evident on ICF. They are both touted as upgrade from Dhoni, only thing is now they have to actually play and perform in real testing situations. 

 

Kohli the captain is again been so aggressive on field and rated as best test captain ever. He has been given full control of the team including selections, so no point hiding behind low expectations. They flopped in SA and messed up, but the team is still strong to win a series. I am not expecting total thrashing, though series win by 2-1 or 3-2 can very much be expected.

 

The only negative thing about this side I see is their catching. Its has gone so downhill in last two years. Captain and Coach have been the biggest culprit for this. Hope that does not ruin our chances.
