with men - there is no pause as in. A man can stay re-productively fertile even after 45. For women because of the whole finate number of follicles its ususally a bio clock.

 

The thing here is fitness and hand to eye coordination -> which i feel cricketers seem to loose around 36-37 some earlier.

There is no such thing as ideal age.Each body is different.Also lot depend on country for which you are playing.If thete is constant push from younger generation then you have to retire early.But if you are in country where there is hardly any of your replacement then you can extend your career as much you like.
