Vijy
dull as ditch water WC, this has been. Link to comment
Mariyam
I obviously hope we win this I would still rate this WC win a lot lower than the 2011 and 2007 T20 win. Those felt like wins. This tournament is going on since forever. I went for a 10 day holiday in between and its still not over. And it spills on to a second day. Almost test match like. The IPL had more craze/buzz/hype than this. addicted4444 1 Link to comment

You sit through a 90 minute game, and the most likely result is something like 1-1. So, about 3 seconds of excitement crammed into 1 1/2 hours. Mariyam and Wall2018 2 Link to comment
addicted4444
The problem with this WC was that you had a super long league stage, with the vast majority of matches not being interesting at all. It was only Pakistan being Pakistan, losing badly to WI but somehow defeating England and NZ, that kept some interest in the league stage. The problem was that with each team playing 9 matches, no 1 match outside of India Pakistan, and maybe England Australia (but not even, because the Ashes are right around the corner), due to natural rivalries really mattered. Any team could lose a match and still have a great chance of making it. But this oroblem was further compounded by the fact that the knockout stages, the most exciting part of the tournament, consists of a total of 3 matches, and these 3 matches are by necessity matchups that have already happened. The 2015 WC generated immense excitement despite the match quality being lower, thanks to the fact that there were 7 KO matches. In this tournament by the time people start getting excited about the KO phase, by game 2 or 3, the tournament is over. This is without even bringing in the rain, and the fact that the pitches have made this the only WC in the last 4 or 5, that the side batting first has a massive statistical (the last 4-5 WCs broke down nearly evenly, with just a win or 2 difference. In this WC, the side batting first has won twice as many times as the side batting 2nd). Finally, comparisons to the IPL, which has a similar format, are way off. The IPL is basically an annual summer festival, and is a league, and not a once in 4 years global event, like the WC. Further, the IPL Is able to generate excitement by virtue of being a T20 league in itself, and the fact that nearly every match is played in 1 teams home ground. Shaz1 1 Link to comment
RAZPOR
England doesn't deserve to host the wc , let them have thier ashes . Link to comment
bones
It's a boring world cup because ODI cricket is now boring (mostly). The only exciting matches we get are low scoring thrillers but no one wants them. The tournament like every other ODI world cup has been a miserable affair for me because it just goes on and on and on and on. FFS when when the ICC/BCCI/ECB/ACB or whoever makes the decisions finally do the correct thing and scrap ODI cricket altogether and leave T20s and Tests only? upriser7 1 Link to comment
someone
Its boring because England has failed as host. That is the main reason, this WC should be the biggest thing, a festival yet its nowhere there. Their staff, groundsman also lack the urgency or simply not passionate enough of the sport. Host failed to do their job well, even bad scheduling. Link to comment
