Enough is enough - Shankar/Jadhav/Thala are rubbish

Regardless of what happens at the WC, if Thala does not retire from international cricket, then I hope BCCI has the balls to drop him.

 

bwahahahahahahahaha ... wait, What am I smoking. He will be in the team in 2023 WC. They will take him to the field in a wheel chair and then wheel him out after the game. Heck he will probably play in the 2050s with Ailaa’s grandson.

even if it seems farcical, I am not convinced he will be retired (or removed) by 2023 WC. he will be around 42 then, and people like misbah have played int'l cricket until then. seeing as how big a bhakt VK is of dhongi, I am not 100% sure that we will be rid of greybeard even by 2023 WC.

I do not think a Indian superstar has been so reviled as Thala. Even when Sachin was hanging on, there was not so much hate. Anyway if we go far in this WC, it will have to be with Thala.

I think sachin got plenty of hate post-2011 WC (some of it was deserved). I even remember dravid catching a fair amount of flak because his avg during the last 3-4 yrs of his test career was rather low.

If only one of the top order could bowl a few overs, both DK and Pant could have been slotted. We will have 3 dynamic players down the order. Pant, Pandya, DK.  Among the three DK is the best to go after pacers in death overs. Pandya's technique doesn't work against pacers.

Have Dhongi bowl. I enjoy seeing his muscular medium-fast bowling.

 

on a serious note, one general trend I have noticed in our current and upcoming batsmen is that most of them are specialists. in the 90s and 00s, many of our batsmen could bowl quite well part-time: ganguly, SRT, sehwag and yuvi (who became a batting AR of sorts). in contrast, when I look at rohit, kohli, dhawan none of them bowl. the same also for younger bats like iyer, pandey, gill, shaw and mayank. ODI cricket seems to be shifting more to specialists and ARs; we are seeing less of batsmen who bowl part-time and bowlers who can bat a bit (without being full-fledged ARs).
