The way he was cheerleading throughout the game today he didn’t seem like someone who had any doubts. Very convinent to rip apart after the loss. Back young talents? I think you listen to Hindi commentary, you should have heard English commentary where he made your stomach churn cheerleading for Dhoni.

 

As I said Manju is a better commentator than Ganguly. Calls it like it is.

He shouldn't be playing Tests though, because he is a truly bits and pieces player there. He might get 1 wicket and score 40 runs, but that might not be good enough because he is neither accountable for his bowling nor his batting..

 

He is good enough a batsman to bat at 5, give him a long run it will teach him to bat responsibly. If we want to score the way England do, the likes of him and Pant need as long as possible at the crease. He is certainly not good enough a bowler to give 10 overs every match- thought tbf he has been good this WC with the ball.

Also @vayuu1 not blaming Pant alone. Our team collectively doesn’t have one proper reliable bat. We had 3 years to groom Pant while it’s selectors fault he hasn’t grabbed his chances in LOIs with both hands either. In fact he did that in tests

So what stopped Rahul? Also every team has pair of openers are they all hitting 200s or scoring 600+ runs?

How many chances did he get? Warner has 638 runs. If he received as many chances, could have been close to 700 runs if not more. If SA dropped him, he could have won the game for Aus singlehandedly. Whereas certain someone needed multiple chances just to reach 100

Apart from top 3, we do not have anyone in batting lineup who can convert the starts into hundreds. Once the top 3 were dismissed, there was no hope left.

For 2023 WC, the TM should invest in Pant , Pandya and the likes of Shubman Gill and/or Prithvi Shaw. These players should form the core of the middle order.  Top order has been good (Rohit, Kohli and Dhawan are not too aged either ) So, there is no need for alterations in top order till 2023.
