He has been doing rhe same what yograj said for quite long. Dhoni is always the one who is on the "safer side." It's always the player on the non strikers end who take risks,no matter the situation. The only place where I saw him take responsibility a bit is IPL. He is a different batsman playing for CSK since he isn't scared of maintaining averages while playing for CSK.

For most part of his career,he was dependent on his partners -be it Raina or Yuvraj ;and stayed at one end safe without playing any risky shot yet managed to get the title of best finisher.

In semi-final he did same - asked Jadeja and Pandya to take risks.
