After watching the highlights of Pak v Afg game again I know what made Pakistan click in this tourney.

Their pacers were quick & rushed batters.

Afghan batters were batting with high intent.

In Shehzad's dismissal he was beaten for Shaheen's pace when he tried to loft him.  Someone like Bhuvi/Shami would have been thunped for 4 or six by same line.

Rauf got the better off Asghar same way..  He rushed him again.  AA was looking in fine touch up until that point.

In short there is no future for Trundlers in white ball cricket.

One express pacer & two 140k+ bowlers should be ideal pace combination in LOIs..  In my view.

Pace is pace yaar

Should see Vasu Vats & Salaudeen, both are impressive with good action & speeds.

Vasu Vats, Ayush Thakur, Salaudeen, Hangargekar look the best of this bunch. Garv Sangwan and Badiani are also decent. Haven't seen Dhanush Gowda, Vijay Kumar, Vijay Yadav, Ravi Kumar. Disappointed to not see Divyanshu Singh and Zaid Patankar.

Shami is 140 k+ but is too short for white ball cricket, especially T20s.

In tests, his movement at sharp pace and sudden bouncers work. But he becomes too predictable in T20s.

Woakes and southee were both trundling in yesterday but being taller they still find a way of succeeding in this format, bhuvi was never quick but when bowling around 134-138kph a few years back he had some bite and was quite difficult to get him away, he was a defensive bowler hard length bowler now he still bowls the hard length with no effort, zip and bit. Shami is short and skiddy, carbon copy of Ajit agarkar in odi cricket, easy to line him up when he ain't bowling his quickest, except Hassan Ali none of the Pak bowlers can be lined up.

Rakhsan reddi from Hyderabad is quite tall, I think he was part of the squad for the last u19 world cup. How's prabhat Maurya doing?

Bumrah doesn't bowls a lot of bouncers in LOIs...  In fact Indian pacers don't bowl any.

Our LOI bowling is way too defensive.

Why is that though? So weird. Bouncer yorkee. Can never ever go wrong with that honestly.

Yorker is overrated...  Only real usage of it is in the death.  Unless you get late swing line Malinga or have a slingy action.  It is a useless ball to bowl in Powerplay.

Bouncers are key...  To set up batsmen.

Hard length at pace is most effective ball these days.  Fuller length balls at pace & movement will always be threatening if you mix it up with bouncer.

Only 1 is allowed per over in LOI but Indian bowlers don't even use that.

Legacy of Bharat Arun really.  Defensive lengths are what he taught our pacers to bowl in LOIs

We are lacking in height a bit for odi on placid pitches.

Need 1 6'2 plus pacer with pace. Prasidh and tyagi should be groomed asap.

Tyagi

Bumrah

Prasidh or umran.

Now that's brutal.

Agree, height wise current pacers are all the same. Interestingly all our pacers from the 90s were tall bar agarkar. Srinath, prasad, ankola, kuruvile, Prashant vaidya, Ganesh, mohanty were all tall fellows. We on average had taller pacers than Pakistan, shorter height pacers is a bit of a recent trend in Indian cricket. Nehra, Zak, balaji, munaf, ishant all pretty tall
