Has hardly played proper cricket,so have to wait and watch his rhythm and injuries.

He comes from same league as Umran. Both know each other very well, played together.

Umran too came straight away without much red ball cricket but this guy seems to be bowling good Yorkers unlike Umran.

This is the biggest plus of Umran Malik getting a lot of attention, popularity and Team India berth because of his 150 k+ pace and him being one of the top wicket takers in the last IPL

It is encouraging other pacers to bowl 150 k+ and other franchises to find their own " Umrans ".

The Swiggy award instantly made Umran more famous...  It was a brilliant concept.  It highlighted the importance of pace.

Such little things matter.  People were looking forward to Lockie vs Umran or Nortje Rabada or even Wood.  Such mini battles hyped up the IPL.  Then Mohsin,  Tyagi joined the action too.

Earlier Navdeep Saini also bowled quite fast & bowled 150k+ many times in IPl 2019 but it wasn't as hyped.

Sandeep Sharma's swing & his IPl wickets were most talked about things back then.

some states are not that conducive to producing pacers (e.g., because of pitches), but even if we assume 10 pace-friendly states, we should be able to unearth 2-3 umran-type speedsters from each of them. that should, in theory, give a pool of 20-30 such players

Harshit Rana and Gurnoor Brar are interesting me a bit more than others because they are playing FC cricket ... the best way to be top quality bowlers and build a solid base.

really wish Mavi would go back to his peak, which seems implausible. he's still young and doing well in FC - if only he can up his pace

Mavi's mindset is disappointing.  He will probably go back to 130 to 140 even if he bowls quicker for a short time.

And we have so many shorter pacers ... I would really like some taller ones joining our pacer pool.

true. another type of pace bowler we lack is someone who is an out-and-out swing bowler and can play as a specialist in Eng and NZ and potentially SA. that bowler doesn't need to be express (but must be 135+) and need not have a lot of bounce, but needs to get banana swing with good control. peak Bhuvi did that job for a couple of years, but that was a long time back.
