For showing Kuptaan Wrogn and his pigheaded team "management" their true aukaat, and what happens when you take s**t for granted.  3 games in a row we've lost to NZ.  In a format, where given the player resources we have, we had no business of losing to anyone apart from the odd loss to England on a good day.  And the last 2 to a NZ XI without Kane Williamson in it.  

 

This team and its "leadership group" loves to talk and go on and on about 'champion' mindset, playing against conditions and not the opponent, blah blah.  And they lost a WC semi-final chasing 240 odd, failed to defend 350, and now failed to chase 274.  

 

Now we are going to see the likes of Mayank Agarwal and Kedar Jadhav scapegoated and their ODI careers bakra-fied in the name of this loss.  Expect Kuptaan Wrogn to come through from this unscathed though, just like he faced zippo consequences for his absolute pooch-screwing with the Indian middle-order in the 2 years leading up to the ODI WC.  

 

Karma is a bitch, and I'm glad the arrogant bearded 'brand' is going to have swallow humble pie without spitting, and that too from a team playing with debutants and associate cricket cast-offs.

Back to his first ever captaincy stint in a tour to Zimbabwe with a glorified 'A' squad, he refused to give debut to Parvez Rasool - a Krunal Pandya type player, and played Jadeja in all the games, even after the series was already won.  

 

He's always been a "seniority" first guy.

yes, I remember rasool well; at that moment in time, he was doing well - should have gotten a few more chances that just an isolated odi and t20 match. there are many other examples of his seniors-first approach - the way he's slavishly hung on to any number of oldies and baldies proves that.

Problem is ... these 2 losses have happened without Rohit and Dhawan.

 

Whatever  " pressure " might have been present to groom a young opener to replace a " Would be 38 during 2023 WC "  Dhawan, will now be shelved. 

 

The correct step of developing a finisher like Rahul at 5  ... may also be questioned by this impulsive TM who can't continue with something for more than 2 games in a row, especially if losses happen.

 

Kuldeep might continue being the scapegoat while someone like Shardul will keep his place because he is " good " with the bat and can score 18 or 20 on a good day.

 

These losses might mean having more faith in Dhawan and less faith in Kuldeep. Only positive can be if Jadhav is replaced.

Wins and losses happen - the biggest problem I have with Virat, is that the selection policy is inconsistent, and muddled.  And that's putting the best case spin on it.   A cynical take would infer all kinds of ulterior motives into some of the decisions being made.  And the problem is that this issue is now haunting the team and its results for 2 years+ now.  How long until the Captain is given slack, How long do we keep justifying the mismanagement?
