maniac Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 Either it is too many games going into super overs, last over etc or some boring one sided games. Will adding the bonus point rule we saw in some tri nation series in the past be a good addition? Bonus point is much easier to follow for the common viewer than NRR I believe Big Bash is introducing something similar. ur views
zen Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 (edited) Rather than add bonus to overall points, it can be tracked separately like NRR to only kick in if teams are equal on points For e.g. you get a point if you chase in 90% or less of the allocated overs or bowl the other team out for 90% or less of your total Edited November 16, 2020 by zen

How about incentive of teams chasing the score in 15 overs? May not work for 180+ Scores but gives incentive to attack while bowling first and also while chasing say a 140 or below score. Similarly for teams winning/ setting up targets without losing a wicket or bonus point if a team bowls out and takes all 10 wickets or for hitting more than 10 6’s and may be 20 boundaries etc. In such cases yes I agree it is a good idea to track these points separately in case of a tie on the points table Also script writers are getting too predictable. They will get a chance to challenge themselves Edited November 16, 2020 by maniac

The idea is to encourage teams to go (or even not give at times) for a bonus point. Chasing in 18 or less overs (if max overs are 20) or bowling the other team out for 153 or less when you score 170 for e.g. is a good effort! PS There should be super over to decide the game in case of a tie. Like NRR, bonus pts should only come into play if the teams are tied on points on the points table - like when 3 teams are on 14, you look a the bonus points to seperate them. If tied on bonus points too, look at the # of 6 hit or something like that (if not NRR) Edited November 16, 2020 by zen
Gollum Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 (edited) Win (proper, not super over) 3 pts Win (in super over) 2 pts Loss (in super over) 1 pt Loss (no super over) 0 pts Bonus of 1 pt if target reached in 15 overs or win by 50 runs....like CB tri-series days. I think teams which tie and go to super over should not be penalized with 2 points.. they should get atleast 1 pt. The team winning ssuper over can get the additional point. Gollum 1
