Exactly. They had the novelty factor working for them in first 1-2 years but with plethora of video analysis options and them being exposed in IPL, multiple formats etc. it was only a matter of time before the big teams figured them out. I don't understand why people use this breakup of duo card to defend their non-performance....first time I am seeing this kind of excuse, rule of two or something? In the real world captain won't have the luxury to go with a pre-determined XI day in and day out....depending on pitch conditions, opponent batsmen and LHB/RHB split, dew possibility, size of boundaries, injuries, team combo etc composition of bowling unit will keep changing and spinners will mostly have lesser spots in the XI than quicks in white ball cricket even in India. 

 

These two need to reinvent themselves and add skills. On the bowling front they aren't even overexposed like Ashwin who played all formats for nearly a decade, thousands of hours of footage and probably tens of thousands of deliveries to international batsmen. No one can tell me with a straight face that Chahal who shuns red ball cricket and has no secondary skill, can't add a few tricks apart from loopy deliveries well outside off. I love Kuly, have high expectations, my favorite youngster apart from Pant, but now that batsmen have figured him out he can't afford to be so slow through the air, hope he works on it and as you said becomes part of another IPL franchise very soon.

Every time I see Chahal I only see a average spinner.  He lacks variation.  Zampa gets decent drift & zip out of the pitch.  Chahal only looks to flight & toss it outside & hope batsman charge him down.  Once he is attacked he is even worse than Kuldeep. 

Rahul Chahar atm is much better option to look at imo.

That mystery spinner would have helped but he got injured at the wrong time.

I am sure had Kuly been at the other end Chahal would have got Smith out for <10, finished with 5/15 and target would have been 220.
