TBH it isn't same for me as it was 5-6 years ago as a fan.

Apart from a marquee test series or an ICC tournament I don't even bother checking scores.

I think it's both 1 and 2. Losses teach you about a team more than wins can. The zero character of this team and their inability to change makes some great comedy moments.

Cricket is great entertainment

Its an ongoing saga and a time capsule. When you recollect a particular cricket event, you also recollect everything from that time period. You know exactly what you were doing when dhoni hit that six.  Its always fun to talk about these collective memories with friends, colleagues. And forums like make following the game even more interesting.

 

Even bad cricket memories are part of the experience.. in recent times there's more bad than good but still we'll feel nostalgic for these 10 years from now.. when gill and a drunk Jadeja are running Indian cricket we'll all be talking about how kohli-shastri was a simpler era.
