And they can't tell the difference between formats.

Shankar is a mediocre T20 player, may work in ODIs and even tests in certain conditions (Eng, NZ?)

Acc to me Shankar has the most sound technique then most in current scenario , i can point out an immediate weakness to most but not with shankar

We saw the effect of combining a consolidator and a counter-attacking batsman today.

The Aussie seamers were on top and putting a lot of pressure. But then, Gill started putting away the somewhat hitable balls. And the pressure was released. And Pujara held one end with his calm batting.

This is the way to go, rather than have 5 or 6 consolidators.

I and some others have been pointing this out repeatedly.

Don't bunch the consolidators together. Mix and match the consolidators and stroke-players in the batting line-up. Both types are needed. And have at least 4 stroke-players in the top 7.

Today they brought up Pant at 5

And this simple strategy allowed Pujara and Pant to bat together.  And completely transformed our batting approach.

Pujara held up one end as Pant counter-attacked. This should be our strategy in every test in SENA.

It does not allow the opposition bowlers to bowl a good line and length. Put them under pressure.

Yep. Pujara and Rahane combo rarely works. Kohli Rahane combo works more often than not. Batting needs to be overhauled.

1. Stroke

2. Consolidator

3. Stroker than can consolidate if situation demands

4. Consolidator

5. Stroker that can consolidate if situation demands

6. Stroke

7. All rounder/stroke
