The conservatism boggles the mind, it's always safety first but what safety do trundlers provide. Condolidating batsmen, medium pacers and finger spinners or darters have been our darlings for 90 years. Only recently, our T20I batting has become exciting to watch. And our fast bowling was exciting in test cricket during Kohli's captaincy. Usually we believe in dropping Kuldeep Yadav for darter spinners .. criticizing Pant's test batting in public when he was young .. transforming quick pacers to trundlers. Absolutely agree, the sad part is that during Kohli's tenure it seemed things were changing for the better. All subsequent captains after him have shown little interest in promoting new fast bowlers or spinners. The sad part is that the average Indian fan is also batting and star obsessed, there is little support and understanding for travails of fast bowling. The worst are ofcourse Indian commentators who show little interest in supporting new fast bowlers, hate their blind faith in medium paced defensive bowlers Mariyam, Mosher and express bowling 3
express bowling Posted April 24 Author Posted April 24 (edited) Bumrah and Rabada, 2 modern ATGs, are at similar stages in their careers and generally bowl similar speeds in test matches. [ 135 k to 145 k / 147 k ]. And both have struggled with multiple injuries like most pacers. But while Rabada is trying to up his pace at age 30 and has bowled upto 153.6 kph in this IPL and 148 k+ regularly, Bumrah has not even crossed 145 kph, fastest of 144.6 kph and generally trying to stay below 140 k. Bumrah is probably the more pragmatic bowler and one can't fault his approach ... but I find Rabada's approach more exciting. And sports is all about excitement and enjoyment.
