It worked for some didn’t it? Ayurveda needs controlled trials to be legit, you guys speculate all such traditional science as placebo until then. It is not a belief system. It is the way science is done. With rigor, statistics and controls. Treated vs untreated. Large sample sizes. Reproducible results. Measurable outcomes. Such principles are applied to Ayurvedic medications for them to be considered medicine (actual non-religious ayurvedic docs, unlike religious zealots, are on-board with this method). Science knows no borders and its principles transcend religion, nationality and other considerations. What 7 steps? I was being sardonic about the number of steps it takes for us to realize a medication is a fail. Like how Remdesivir failed. Khota and sandeep 1 1

Let them learn Yoga without the belief like our kids enjoy Santa and the fun associated with it without the Christian beliefs. We can only keep our culture and traditions alive by weeding out the unaccepatble parts from it. There is no way we can tell our kids about something like castes with rosy justifications and excuses about why it was made or exists. There is no way we can expect the kids of 2021 to accept that . We need to to stop the reverence given to cow excretory products in our pujas if we expect the kids to take beliefs seriously. We need to make it acceptable to them . When we tell them about the good parts, we need to accept the warts too and discard them . Most of us hindus do not argue with our elders or debate the wrongs in our culture and traditions because ,firstly,we don't argue with elders as it is 'disrespectful 'to the elders and we don't want to hurt them because they raised us and 'sacrificed 'for us. We don't do that...we just become atheists , or just follow ' traditions' to keep them happy without believing in them....as long as they are alive. The only way to keep culture and traditions alive is to change with times ....or keep it alive with force. Thankfully hindus do not have the religious institution that can force it down people throat. we are talking different things, introspection is key to our Dharma. You keep focusing on that negative aspect. While we need it, safeguarding the tradition from predatory civilizations and religions is prime for us to survive, just by introspection and reform will not help us alone. nothing for me to add here

They are afraid that, by introducing Yoga or Aum-chanting or Namaste to their good Christian children, their tradition, culture etc will be diluted. They think it is prime for them to survive to not do that. beetle 1

I did acknowledge Indian medicine is lacking that scientific rigour, that should have been the priority for Ayush ministry Chinese person who got Nobel prize in meds was about research in Chinese herbology and sequencing the medicine for disease like Malaria. Indians should do the same for Ayurvedic herbs Edited May 22, 2021 by coffee_rules BacktoCricaddict 1

I am talking about safeguarding export knowledge from India from misappropriation. Totally different stuff

No. I am grouping everyone together who have an "us" vs "them" mentality and spread fear that other people are "out to get them." This is an Indian Cricket fans board, hence when I state that here, it appears that my rants are specifically targeted against Indians. Regardless, the basic difference is that you want an alphabet soup wherein cultures stay distinct but tolerate one another, whereas I want a well-mixed fusion melting pot, where cultures can mix, traditions can change, and new traditions can emerge; where we just don't tolerate or accept, but mingle, adapt one another's best practices, and tackle problems together. All for the melting and mixing if certain ingredients have that quality.Oil always separates itself out no matter how much you put in a recipe. coffee_rules 1

Totally opposite. I hate the word tolerate. I want cultures and traditions to mutually respect which we can’t ever expect from western and ME civilizations. Hence the need to safeguard our way of thinking for progeny. I don’t want our culture to end up in museums. Go to Metro Museum of art in major cities, you will find our sculptures and idols lying there dead. Edited May 22, 2021 by coffee_rules

Ways of thinking on one hand, and sculptures and idols on the other, are two separate, unrelated entities. Sculptures can be destroyed, thoughts cannot. No one can kill or destroy a way of thinking, and it does not need any other symbolism to accompany it. That it still exists >5000 yrs after it was conceptualized is the evidence for it. Our ways of thinking are passed on by us modelling them for our children - it can be done without being beholden to sacred symbolism. And like you yourself mentioned before, it is paramount that we introspect and learn with humility from other systems, and even incorporate their best practices to improve our way of thinking. Maybe they have figured things out that we haven't - like rigorous statistically powerful clinical trial methods . But what I see from traditionalists is intransigence and a refusal to accept that their forefathers may not have had all the answers. Edited May 22, 2021 by BacktoCricaddict

Symbolism is needed in this era of protectionism. Our forefathers may not have had all answers, but we have forgotten whatever problems they have solved and we are in the process of reinventing the wheel
