Is Rahane injured? Then Rahul will play in his position and Pujara will still be in XI. I would like Vihari open with Rohit but most likely it will be Mayank.

Thakur in place of shami is an ok choice. not like shami is earth shattering anyway.

his outswing will also be very handy, these conditions will enhance in his bowling

Having depth in batting will be the key this series

I will start with players who can potentially have a big series. Assuming seamer friendly conditions:

Rohit

Agarwal

Pujara

Kohli

KL

Pant

Sundar (5th bowler to bowl spin if required)

Thakur

Shami

Siraj

Bumrah

No Rahane atm (as he is more like 1 good inning per series player. Has scored only 1 50+ score in last 12 innings in SENA iirc)

PS Not too many options in batting with likes of Rahane & Vihari, who can be tried if playing well, in reserve

Virat Kohli (c), Ajinkya Rahane (vc), Mayank Agarwal, Ravichandran Ashwin, K. S. Bharat (wk), Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant (wk), Axar Patel, Cheteshwar Pujara, KL Rahul, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Mohammed Siraj, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Hanuma Vihari, Umesh Yadav

I checked to see that in between Rohit, Virat, Pujara, Rahane and Mayank they have grand total of 2 test wickets thanks to Rohit.

yup and they aint even trying, root worked on his bowling and developed variations. Neither are the young ones

Attitude is the issue
