Bajrang was so superior to his opponent. If only he was fully fit and didn't have that knee injury y'day

In hindsight was it necessary to play in a tournament (in Russia) less than one month before Olympics, when his qualification was already sealed? May not be the case here, but wrestling is one of Russia's strong suits, there is always chance of foul play especially against athletes they consider major threats.

Hope next time we plan better. Our folks are too simple and innocent, dehati types....need to be more shrewd. Where to train, against which opponents to spar in practice (Amit Panghal getting demoralized against that Colombian boxer in Italy one month earlier may have played a part in his R16 exit), how to prepare as the event nears, how to hide preparation/tactics....maybe we can be smarter about these things.

Absolutely. Need to invest in the technical superiority in coaching set ups. Our sports heroes deserve nothing but the very best

One sport which hasn't disappointed us since 2008.

Good thing is wrestling federation has upped its goal to win a gold.

Both Bajrang and Ravi Dahiya said before coming to Tokyo that we already have wrestling Silver and Bronze, so expectation of our federation is to win Gold.

Next time with Anshu and Sonam hitting their prime 3 medals with 1 of them being gold is a very realistic target.

During Bajrang's bronze medal match today, the commentators were saying Bajrang still prefers to practice on mud in India. While this helps in developing endurance, it may hamper the reflexes required on a mat with boots on.

Maybe that's one thing that needs further change in our wrestling setup especially at the junior level. Could be the difference between a couple of medals vs a rich haul. Definitely doable.
