Vk1 Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 (edited) Do we now produce any batsmen who can play outside opening slots?? when was it the last time a indian batsman has performed consistently in the middle order.. wtf is going on Edited October 31, 2021 by Vk1
Try_Ball Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 It's been nearly 10 years since Yuvi / Raina went on their decline and 10 years and counting we haven't been able to replace - Yuvi / Raina / Irfan
Vijy Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 I really wonder about batting in all formats these days. In every single format, we have a couple of passengers at the least, who should not be in the format. Tests: Rahane, Pujara (trying hard, but on the wane), Kohli (has lost the plot in past 2 years), and KLR (far too inconsistent) T20s: Rohit (not the same batter he was previously), Kohli (has slowed down, albeit still fairly consistent), Pandya (cannot and should not play as pure batsman post-injury) ODIs: here, we have fairly decent batsmen and I don;t have too many complaints, but no gun middle order players who can score at 120 SR like Buttler, Maxwell, etc.
goose Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 given the skill set of this group they should have targeted a run a ball for the first 15 overs. 90 for the loss of 1-2 wickets can be converted to 150
Nikhil_cric Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 I'm much more worried about the bowling talent because I'm not sure who is going to replace ageing bowlers like shami and Ishant in tests. Unlike other more optimistic posters, I dont think we have enough bowlers who are athletic and durable enough for test level. This rubbish tournament was decided more by toss and diabolical pitches. I think our young white ball batsman are worth investing in
