TEAM SELECTION MISTAKES that Selectors have done in Past.

I have got this new topic out.

here I am encouraging all of you to highlight all major mistakes that selection committee has made to select indian teams in Past.

 

one Major Mistake i feel selectors made was Selecting Kapil dev for at least 12 more months , he should have been asked to retire 12 months before. he did not perform well neither as  batsman nor as a bowler in last 12 months.

 

a sharp good bowler like Atul wassan who played just 1 or 2 tests ...why was he played just for 1 or 2 tests?

 

Selecting a slow trundler like Unadkat to play for India when he was not ready to play for india and was bowling at 125K.  Selecting Sandeep Sharma to play for INDIA when it was quite clear that he was too Slow.

Not selecting Varun Aroon in many matches was a big mistake.

even Bhajji and Kumble were also extended by at least 3 to 6 months.

srinath retired at the right time.

Also bringing back Karthik in ODI and T20's was a BIG MISTAKE as some other player should have been groomed, what ever was karthik's capability was totally clear. his wicket keeping was always BAD to Average and his batting was always not too good that's why DHONI made his career, so bringing a player who was declared not good enough for INDIA and replacing him with MSD and later bringing him back..no logical reason.

lot of Spinners deserved to play for INDIA but could not play.

Lot of pacers deserved to play for INDIA but could not play.

 

now selector's are answerable so they dont make too much of mistake.

even playing STUART BINNY was a mistake. he was a slow trundler and Hence not exactly the all rounder we were looking for.

please share your views about wrong selections ..who were picked and who were not picked but deserved to be picked. who played longer than he should have and who played shorter.

check Srikkanth's records, he played longer than what He should hve played. wasim got him out on 0 atleast 4 times and still he was not dropped from indian team...- was that accountability??

In all honesty, I don't see any selection mistakes for this WC. This is the best squad India ever had in a T20 WC. Call it unfortunate or Kohli's fate.....I'm sure no one had predicted group exit...

None of the in form players were selected.

 

Post IPL, the final squad was horrible.

 

People are going by pre IPL tentative squad.

 

Pacers were bad in both squads.

2. Unreliable Shami

 

3. Shardul

 

4. Bumrah

 

This is no pace attack.

 

If this is the best we gotta offer, no wonder we got eliminated.

 

It should have been:

 

Siraj

 

Bumrah

 

Shardul

 

Arshdeep / Tyagi/ Avesh Khan / etc (these guys could be used in PP & middle overs) while Bumrah & Siraj go for the death.

There really was no plan.
