Yea that was pathetic. But honestly I doubt kohli would have lasted long there with the way Ajax was bowling lmao.

The standard of umpiring in international matches is not as good as it could be. Adjudicating authorities must (a)  be competent. (b)  come across as confident and fair.

 

Virender Sharma fails on both counts IMO. But he is not the only one. And there have been far worse ones. Someone like a Darrell Hair not only had both these negatives but additionally he came across as a villainous bully. 

 

Nitin Menon is the ideal kind of umpire. Competent and comes across as both fair and confident. So was Simon Taufel. 

 

The ICC should look to improve the quality of umpires from all countries and it is failing at this.

special mention for dharmasena too who ticks both the timid and incompetent boxes.

 

Chaudhary and Menon are both good umpires, Erasmus is one guy who seems to have the respect of the players around the world.

we need to bring back jayaprakash. he had swagger about him, especially when he was umpiring in kumble's 10-fer match
