Have a feeling that the trio of Pujara, Virat and Rahane is going to stack up loads of runs in SA

Feelings have cost us all trophies last 7 years 

 

a guy like Ayer who manged to win us last series against the best bowling attack in world today ( yes New Zealand was v v good ) is warming the bench because of feelings which are stupid . 
 

This is how we are so horrible in winning anything now . 
 

note how poor ishant is benched correctly as he was not top performer last two tests but still is a better bet than many 

 

why can’t you be ruthless with batsmen too ? If u apply same selection criteria to batsmen as bowlers , we would be unbeatable . 
 

based on current form , pujara and rahane needed to be benched . Or make it clear that Rahane is a South Africa specialist only and will be dropped in subcontinent ..the way you drop / don’t play ashwin in matches abroad . 
 

Kohli , pujara and rahane are not irreplaceable . Batsmen like agrawal get two bad tests and are dropped / demoted but rahane Kohli are playing without any consistency and are arrogant like Kohli.

Excellent post. The India cricket has been suffering from lack of horses for courses approach for ever. They conveniently drop/change bowlers based on conditions but does not follow the same rule when it comes to batting. Rahane should never play in subcontinent and Iyer should be treated as a subcontinent specialist. Pujara should be promptly dropped for Eng or NZ series as he does jackshit when the ball moves. But guess what the mafia approach by our cricket fraternity who lacks any sort of acumen along with their fans in this forum and social media will continue to come with retarded justifications to further their agenda.

 

You have taken example of NZ. Thye have dropped Ajaz Patel for home tests after taking 10 wkts in an innings because they know that he is a liability even against Bangladesh in home conditions. Now compare that with us where we ever show any thought process to do that after Rahane scores a 50 in a run of 10 tests or Ishant getting a 3 wicket haul in a 5 test match series. Even a slight criticism will prompt mafias like Gavaskar to start masturbating in the commentary box itself.

does this mean that a 50 will suffice to compensate for their multiple years of failing continuously? In rahane's case, it stretches to nearly 50 tests (of avg 32 or so).

Since when do Kiwis have bet bowling attack rofl? In swinging conditions maybe. Any other conditions it's India.

I am saying that a 50 is at least expected from them to minimally retain their spots. If they can't even do this now, there is no point in playing them anymore in a test XI.

 

When they get 50 odd runs each and make India win the test match, they can retain the spots but they need to continuously display this kind of performances on a more consistent basis to really having another 2-3 years of career.
