Have a feeling that the trio of Pujara, Virat and Rahane is going to stack up loads of runs in SA

Especially Kohli who now has a point to prove since he thinks he is unfairly sacked from captaincy.
I think he will try to bat just like he did in the England series in 2018 when he really wanted to prove himself.

Rahane is anyways our South Africa specialist. He has a special liking for scoring runs against South Africa. Let us see what records he will break this time.

Cheteshwar might be willing to rack up some runs as his place is directly under threat with youngsters performing well.

While their performances are good for team India for this series, I am not sure if this leads to long term loss for team India.

Pujara's contribution cannot be measured in runs alone, just count the number of blows he takes for the team by putting his body on the line.

Standing like a Rock, taking blows after blows just frustrates the bowlers more than any runs scored against them .

They all bat for a living, so at some point they are likely to get a big score. This "some point" has been an endless piece of rope for them whereas newer batsmen don't even get a fraction of that, and despite scoring big in the 1-2 chances they get.

Dodda Ganesh....a rare honest guy.

Him and Vikram Rathore were my favourite domestic cricketers in 90s.

Still remember highlight reels seeing Dodda Ganesh sending stumps flying in 90s.

I admire his courage, but he took the blows precisely because he couldnt pick up length early and could not duck/pull.

Would rather have someone who scores.

Pujara is a Warrior who puts his ass on fire for India.

Well when you want to put our fire try to avoid the fire or use extinguisher to put it out. Showing your ass is not courage. He is lucky he didn't pick up a serious injury by taking on blows.

early days yet, but this thread is not off to a good start. Rat looked very scratchy, like a mouse scrambling around trying to find some cheese. And Dracula was in and out before one could yell "Bob's your uncle"

Why don't we just use an actual rock instead of him then?

Looks like Rahane has sealed his spot with beautiful looking boundaries in his 40 odd cameo here.

Pujara will probably score an useful 50 in second inning of 2nd test. He anyways can't play pace, has better chance of scoring on Day 4 or 5 only where he will face spinners more or else he can just block, block and block for 200 balls and save a test.
