Contingent sizes could be an indirect influencing factor; however higher medal tallies aren't a direct outcome of contingent size alone.

Boils down to how many Olympian grade athletes a country has ,how well looked after they are, how accessible sports infrastructure/resources are. No amount of meat consumption can alleviate structural issues in the sport infra of a country.

Just stating the obvious.

Elephants do not have cloven hooves and might be considered haraam.
