If you take a single and the other batsman also takes 1 or 2, you may end up with only 6-8 from the over. Big hitters are not trying to get 9 singles and hit one 4 to end up with 13* off 10 balls). WI big hitters have similar approach as if you play an over, you could get a couple of balls in your slot to get a couple of big hits in.
