sandeep Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 12 minutes ago, Lord said: You were talking of watching it fully as a measure of its usefulness uh no - I'm referring to less folks watching them as a measure of its "popularity". If you read my opinion on ODI vs T20 in this thread and elsewhere, I'm a big believer in the ODI format over T20 in terms of cricket quality and "usefulness" to use your word. Lord 1
cricketfan28 Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 ODIs can be split into 4 innings to make it fair and interesting, Sachin was suggesting this some time ago.
goose Posted September 26, 2022 Posted September 26, 2022 4 hours ago, sandeep said: when was the last time you watched 100 overs of an ODI game? my propensity to watch a whole ODI game is unchanged. context has always been an issue in cricket and yes low attention spans have squeezed the ODI. i can have it on and tune in and out as i do with tests. but crucially you need three ingredients for a memorable ICC event. the context of a world cup, commercial viability, and a format that tests the whole array of cricket competence thus arriving at a deserved winner. only ODI world cups give you all three and for that reason alone ODIs must stay. can you have an ODI world cup without any other ODI cricket? unlikely.
