Someone posted a similar video on of my WhatsApp groups and I just got into the GRV rabbit hole on Youtube. The guy was just magical on his day - I wondered how he would've done in T20s. Would he have figured out a way to use his skills for 6-hitting in addition to the 4s that he effortlessly hit?
coffee_rules Posted October 9, 2022 Posted October 9, 2022 (edited) My dad used to speak about 97* in Chepauk against Andy Roberts and Co in 1974. Bengaluru Folklore says there was no red spot on his bat that was outside of the center. Wish he could see this video Edited October 9, 2022 by coffee_rules AuxiliA 1
TheWall Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 He was probably the best batsman during that era... God of square cut...
Gollum Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 VVS Laxman of that era, extremely clutch with unreal number of ATG knocks, fantastic back foot player. Stats don't do him justice (true for many 70s/80s guns from across the world), will be in my 2nd AT Indian XI, easily. Regarded as one of the most artistic batsmen of all time.
vvvslaxman Posted October 10, 2022 Posted October 10, 2022 He had a bad series in Pakistan. He was permanently binned. In Rahane era he would have played a little longer.
