Another phainta awaits us ,this time at home in WC 2023 .

Funny thing is everyone knows that !

100% sure. Reasons very clear.

1. Not one struggling senior will be dropped with the excuse of " Experience" -  Rohit cos he is captain. Dhawan - Great ICC champion, Virat - great chaser, great record, KL - very talented , Jaddu -Allrounder & great fielder, Bhuvi - best record as opening bowler, Hardik -Only genuine all rounder, , Chahal - most experienced wrist spinner & thinking Chess Pro !! , Kuldip Yadav - only chinaman &googly bowler.

Thus where is the change ?

We have seen umpteen times now what they can achieve in ICC tourneys. Guys who have temperament and have shown ability in some KO matches in the past are over the hill now and on last legs . Other youngsters cannot cope the pressure like KL, Chahal, Kuldip.

2. No ready made resources to plug loopholes like

 >  Really good spinners to take wickets in middle overs .

> Bowlers who can bat and score quickly.

> very few potential finishers

> Very few batters who can take down quality spinners . Those who can hit spinners are poor against Quality pace  -like Shreyas , Ishan Kishan., Hooda

>  No real quick bowler who has developed his skills & control recently.

Unless we find players to fix above holes in the team we are going to be where we are with this old team with apparent weaknesses of openers vs Lefties, Swing .  weakness against spin from Rohit , Virat, Dhwan ,weakness against Quality pace - Ishan Kishan , Shreyas, Hardik, Spinners with poor performance in ICC games with inability to take wickets , No  death bowlers , No PP wicket taking bowlers , Openers not able to go hard in PP , Players who are nervous wrecks

Overall very poor fielding unit .

Again we will  puff & puff and may reach QF and then royally butchered by a good team . And that is the story WC2023 most probably .

We will made to enjoy bilateral series wins which sometimes looks like fixed stuff till WC23.

Watch the squad vs. NZ. Many new players. Many seniors are not playing.

New players to keep seats warm while seniors are resting, only for seniors to come back and re-occupy their place whenever it catches their fancy.  Under these circumstances, why would any youngster put forth real effort to develop and get better for the long term?

 Adding to that -

India needs a new coach for short format who has been involved in one dayers , T20  and has credentials as a good coach to change batting & bowling approach ,  a bowling coach who can focus on more skills in bowling needed for short format , specialized coaching program for pacers under a known fast bowling coach . I do not see anything happening in that direction.

Naseem Shah credits better death bowling skills to discussion with Bravo but how many indian pacers became good in the last 10 years though Bravo is playing IPL forever   , Taskin shows great improvement  with stint with Donald, Zampa, Santner , Rashid ,Shadab all have developed their skills  recently .

Where indian players stack up ?. Cannot find many  except perhaps Bhumra & SKY  who have come up on their own effort .
