Not sure where all this confusion has arisen from.... the 3 i originally mentioned were v ko-maar, mithooon, and araveeend. the tenvic legends  But staying on topic, I think irfan has presented himself very nicely in the 1 opportunity he got and that too with just 1.5 decent support bowlers in jaddu and rahul. More importantly, all this discussion will be put to rest when the prince of trundle land comes back from injury aka munaf patel since he is an automatic selection to dhoni's odi team.
he may comeback and may be an automatic selection but with the constant injuries he has, there will be plenty of opportunities for other bowlers.

with this selection panel... vk will just need 2-3 wickets every test to keep his place... and yeah his fitness too... that would be enough to ensure no one even touches him
he is not a medium term option for the team, let alone 30 tests. He is a useless hack and will be out of the team soon

Walsh beautifully explaining how Irfan's changed bowling action' date= with that high arm, will help him generate more pace, also give him late swing and be consistent with his line and length. They analyzed his action from 2007 with today's action, both Manjrekar and Walsh agreed this is a positive change in action. Manrekar says its like a batsman going from a very low backlift to a high backlift. Would have loved to hear Bishop's thoughts on Irfan's new action.
But for that he will have to have right grip on the ball, that crooked thumb grip will not help him to bowl with consistency in long term. BTW, what kind of a speed he was bowling in Ranji trophy? He looked to have clocked more here with some swing. I would not mind him taking to Aus in place of Mithun if he can sustain this.

I think it is a good idea if they can replace Pathan with Mithun for Oz tour..He may not have the pace, but he can swing the ball and a better bowler any day than Mithun..Only thing is whether he can sustain bowling long spells without getting him injured.

this is same old pathan.. good with new ball but when its stops swinging he becomes left arm spinner :P every one knows if it swings he can get early wickets but unlike pk he isnt that consistent he bowled some down the leg was easy to hit at death really dont get why people want him so badly in test team.. yes mithun is crap but why replace him with only pathan? why not dinda?

Agree..Yesterday Pathan stock ball after his first spell was the slower one, bowled slower than some of Rahul Sharma's. Dinda or Nechim would be good options. But now that the test squad is final, one can only hope that ZK, IS & UY remain fit to play all the Tests.

Arre yaar, the ball was not even reversing towards the end and the batsmen were really going after everything. He might not be feeling confident enough to slip in the yorkers so he was bowling slower balls. Give the guy some time. We might not induct him into the test team but in ODIs, he can add some value.

Walsh also said that he has a nice swinging action, but agree about the grip of the ball. However, I felt that he had changed that as well. His first spell was actually pretty impressive. He should have got Samuels as well. He looks a lot leaner as well. But this was just one match, and sadly we can't judge him on the basis of such a small sample set.

But was still wayward.

(i cant tell for sure tht it wasnt cos no other bowler bowled) then too accuracy wasnt there it would be hard for him to be in team when pk is back.. and aaron is fit ..

Yes, he was hitting the right lengths, the line was a problem though. But, the better thing was that he was not pitching it short like he used to before. There were a few improvements but we need to wait and watch before jumping the gun.

Crapthan back to his pathetic best. Impressive with the bat. Particulary in the 49th over when he played out a maiden. Contained wild swipes and also a great forward defensive. Then his pathetic bowling which is summed up by the fact he was out bowled by Mithun. Barely touched 80 mph, hovered in 70s and still manged not to be able to be accurate even though bowling so slow, as kept bopwling wides. The guy is a proven failure and proven to be not good enough. STAY AWAY CRAPTHAN

lol dude did u even watch the game,he was getting way more swing than Mithoon.Mithoon got both his wickets due to Asnani, one blatantly wrong for which he didnt even appeal,n one iffy at best. n whats this obsession with speed?its not like we have speed demons in our FC cricket.this speed with swing is enough to get test batsmen out.the hattrick he got was even slower deliveries n he got Yousuf,Younis.there r other bowlers in India who bowl same speed, why dont u go after them Irfan got 2-42 in 9 overs.thats not great, but not pathetic either.
