Every civilization goes through peaks and throughs. Nothing wrong with feeling a sense of pride about the peaks - regardless of how far back it is. Even today we cannot build with the quality of our temple builders over the past millenium. The statues and carvings are not replicable even with the precision tools available today. Knowledge about our golden periods inspire some people to reach the peaks again. Others just sit and keep whinging that this was in the past and doesn't mean anything.

Chinese at least have their records & have rightful claim to be a longest surviving civilization. 

Ours have been left to the myths.  Sad state kf affairs.
